Aside from Jason X, are there any slasher films set in the distant future (NOT post-apocolyptic futures)? I think it could be an innovative setting.

12 Monkeys, though, that's more of a mind-warp picture than anything.
Edit: And, it's definitely not a slasher film, so this post was more or less gratuitous

Maybe the film Hardware? Although the villain is a military robot so not a traditional slasher killer.
Event Horizon might work?

Would Alien count as a slasher?

I can't think of a film set in the future which has teenagers being stalked and killed by a human killer. Most future ones seem to feature aliens, robots or apocalyptic wastelands, while the victims are rarely all teenagers.

A lot of the mentions in this thread come close, but no cigar. It's strange to say, but Jason X might be one of a kind.
That said, the second (crappy) half of Sunshine comes close, but still no cigar.

I think Dracula3000 was set in the future It was, but it's a vampire flick. To me, a slasher flick has a murderer who stalks and kills victims one by one. Vampire flicks are more focused on "OMG, vampires" and killing them before they either consume everyone or turn them into vampires. They're monster flicks, in which the horror is derived at least in part in the sheer nature of the monster. One could argue that slasher flicks are a subset monster flicks - the monster is a homicidal maniac. In this way, if my beliefs are to be granted, could make vampire flicks and slasher flicks cousin genres. Flicks.

RoboCop battling a Robo serial killer would be fun.

I wasn't gonna be surprised either way, but it's funny that somebody would ask don't you think?

That said, the second (crappy) half of Sunshine comes close, but still no cigar. It's an interesting idea for a story. It's not a movie, but the only other thing I can think of that's kind of similar is a Star Trek: DS9 novel I read in middle school about a mystery involving a serial killer on the station. It was a good book, though it came out during the first season and the way events played out on the show it eventually became incompatible with the continuity. It's called "The Siege" by Peter David.
