So yeah, I know I'm super late to this party, but anyone else round these parts play this game at all? Just curious as to your opinions.
As for my two cents: I really, really want to like it. Read reviews, watched videos, all that s***...all signs pointed to it being right up my alley. Has a lot of good ideas, a lot of freedom and choice as far as how you build and use Geralt. All very cool stuff.
Sadly, there is one major aspect of the game that absolutely breaks it for me, and while it may seem nitpicky to some, it's a big deal to me, and that is the map system. It is so far beyond useless that I actually feel like it's working AGAINST me. No custom waypoints, the waypoints only lead to the EXACT spot you need to go, not to a door or something, the waypoint is ONLY on the map and not on the screen, and the areas are all very complex and hard to get around for me...so yeah, this had absolutely destroyed any interest I have in putting it back in. Every time I play it's like a damn chore, just wondering in circles for half an hour or more trying to find some NPC or some place to get to the next step in a quest...it's so damn frustrating.
Sorry, I just needed to vent because this game was so disappointing for something I feel would have been so easy to get right, and it is so catastrophically bad.

Yeah, it's quite old school in that regard. I didn't have a problem with the map. Takes me back to the days of making my own maps with graph paper as I went along.

I didn't have a PC growing up, so I sadly didn't grow up on the older PC RPGs that basically necessitated this, so I suppose I'm a lot less used to it. I just feel like it's very unacceptable in 2013. The game feels like work, and that is simply not fun for me. But the stuff it does well, it does quite well...but the worthless map system is bad enough that the good bits can't make up for it for me.

Oh yeah, for a modern game it's a terrible map system. Not enough help. I'd balk at wanting a quest arrow though. I'm just used to finding my way around games like this.

I'm jealous of you. I tried so hard to muscle through it, but I am sadly at my giving up point.
Really interesting world, though. And the combat mechanics are great. Didn't spend enough time with it to really get into the story, but it's probably quite good, too.
