Gleeson said that for inspiration to play the role of King Joffrey, he looked to Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus from Gladiator and Tim Curry's Hexxus from Ferngully. I can definitely see some of Commodus' character in Joffrey, though Hexxus kinda surprised me. Yeah....Hexxus scared him as a child, he said.

Jaime : You will never marry my sister. Loras : And neither will you. Haha, fantastic episode. After redeeming him some it was kinda weird to see old creepy Jaime again. Plus why is Jaime ragging on Lorus anyway? It's not like he wants to marry Cersei.

He may have changed a lot since he left King's Landing in Season One but he still loves Cersei, even if he does realise she's not nearly as perfect as he used to think. So him throwing his weight around at Loras makes perfect sense.

Jaime is also acting the spurned lover. Cersei rejected him and now Loras is due to marry her. His world is falling apart around him. Hence the dickish standoff.

And of course he just lost his first son...... that was after the dickish standoff Right, I meant it as another pillar of his world that has come tumbling down. Point is, Jaime has fallen from the heavens and taken quite the stumble. I'd say Theon and the Stark children are the only characters to have had a worst turn of events than Jaime.

Joffrey bringing out dwarves dressed as his enemies was full on wrestling heel shenanigans. One of them riding a Ser Loras... while Loras was f***ing there... that was impressive.

Ah right, I get yout. I completely misread the sentence, my apologies. Point still stands though. I'm pretty sure Jaime knows Loras is gay anyway but the idea of his sister - the love of his life - being married off to yet another man Jaime doesn't feel deserves her is what will have set him off. He's envious that Loras is going to do what he (Jaime) can never do. And he hates Loras for that, probably even more so knowing that Loras has no interest in his sister.

^^^ That works perfectly with Mark Wahlberg as a very confused wedding guest.

I kind of feel bad for Jaime and Cersei, considering their relationship. Outside of the inherent incest, they're pretty normal Medieval people, especially with their truly despicable father.
Plus the Targaryens married their immediate family all the time, and nobody seemed to mind.

Joffrey bringing out dwarves dressed as his enemies was full on wrestling heel shenanigans. The whole thing felt like a wrestling set-up really, hell I'm surprised Vince has never written anything like that. I mean dwarves, a wedding, authority angles, incest and a heel pissing everybody off more than normal to the point you know they're about to get their comeuppance is right up his alley, add a few monkeys and he'd be in heaven.

To the guy who said the show jumped the shark: the series is based on books. Joff got heat, got killed in the books and a new heel was worse in his place. That heel got their heat and got their comeuppance too. It's the way it works. You think Joff got heat? Hang in there a few weeks. If they book the show like the book, you will hate his replacement heel five times as bad
