Hey so, as usual when it comes to advice, I always ask the wonderful people on FAN for help. It's actually a serious thing I need some help with though. My room is right next to the family bathroom. Basically, there is this strong urine smell emitting from our restroom, most likely around our toilet and I can't stand it at all, as I can smell it all the way down the hall. I've already mopped around the toilet with generic cleaner and sprayed in/around the toilet with some sort of Lysol spray, but that only seems to work temporarily and then the smell comes back again later. I just need some advice here, for future reference especially if it happens again, as it occurs randomly throughout the year based on whoever uses the restroom and if they 'miss' lol. I'm just wondering if you all know of any effective ways, products, etc of getting rid of this horrible 'Public Restroom" smell?

Tell the inconsiderate asshole that's pissing all over everything that he won't magically sprout a vagina if he sits down to pee at home.
If that doesn't work, pee on his pillow every night before bed.

How hard is it to hit the bowl? If you have to go in the middle of the night and don't want to turn the light on you can always sit down.
Plus if your pee smells that strong you aren't hydrating correctly.

Alright, I very well know the problem. Young kids peeing and sleepy older males missing. I'll make sure to try and prevent this from happening by talking to family members. Now can we get with some solutions for cleaning, please? I need some hows.
- Bleach, I poor that on the floor and toilet surfaces or something?

You obviously need something stronger than the generic stuff. Bleach the area around the toilet and in the bow and wipe it carefully. You can also clean the tank, because some of the smell might be coming from there somehow.
Note, do not use bleach you used anything with ammonia. This makes mustard gas.
If it's still coming after that, get one of those automatic

Take a dump in the sink. That'll get rid of the urine smell.

Use coke... not the cocaine. It's a surprisingly good cleaner; managed to clean tile floors, oily pans, etc. Might work on the smell, who knows?

Automatic Bowl cleaner for in toilet stuff. For outside a Baking Soda Solution should work. I don't recommend bleach as Urine breaks down to ammonia if left long enough.
The Baking soda should neutralize the odor. Re-apply weekly If it persists. Also look into a 2000 Flushes/ Arm&Hammer toilet tablet for in the tank. It automatically dissolves into the deodorizer solution.

I found this recipe cleans all kinds of pee odor:
Wash area with a combination of 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar, and let dry.
Take 1 teaspoon dish soap (Dawn is best), 1/4 peroxide (3% volume is recommended, so be sure to check label first) and a small amount of baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda atop the peroxide/soap solution and let dry. Sweep away baking soda. There should be no more stink.
Also a sign above the toilet to the effect of "We aim to please. You aim TOO, please" may give offenders a hint. ;D

Just mix some bleach with really hot water and mop the area around the toilet. We used to do this at my old job and it worked wonders.

And open box of baking soda behind the toilet on the floor is a lifesaver.
