Bland face R-Truth turning into crazy smoker heel R-Truth out of nowhere in the UK against Jerk JoMo was bizarre, and hilarious, in a good way. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOKkSFoQjCM"Think of the Children R-Truth, won't somebody please think of the children?"

The Michaels/Janetty Barbershop moment was the first heel turn I'd ever seen. I remember reading the "is there a problem?" Story in WWE magazine and didn't believe it, because things like that just didn't happen. When Shawn put him through the window I thought he was going to be arrested!! Ahhh. I sometimes miss my innocence.
And Taker stopping Jake from hitting Miss Elizabeth was on par with Vader stopping the Emperor killing Luke for me back then.
Others - Backlund snapping on Bret Hart, Batista destroying Rey and Sheamus stepping up to Mark Henry, even if it did lead to the Sheamus we have now.

I wasn't an Internet user at the time so this was a shock to me when it happened.

Acolytes going from Satan worshipers to generic no pop brawlers, to beer drinking ass kickers.

I wish I could say in hindsight that Orton's face turn was one of the best. It had the makings of something brilliant, cocky young heel gets the most sobering, humbling ass kicking he's ever received and becomes a better man from it. But he took his lumps and made a s***ty comedy skit out of it, and attacked Evolution by probably beating up a stripper and hiding in her cake. Bret Hart's heel turn, to me is the absolute standard in pro wrestling storytelling, let alone heel/face turns. Completely believable character development. A guy who rose to greatness in an era where it was cool to do the right thing, becoming inexplicably vilified for not being villainous enough, then when he becomes the villain, everyone still hates his guts. And the beauty of it was Bret wasn't a heel everywhere, just in America. In Canada and other countries, he was still their hero.
