Keep in mind that I'm just asking what your favorite turns are, not whether the face/heel run ended up working out, that's immaterial.
And let's try and get some unexpected ones in here, too. I mean, I know the Austin heel turn was a great moment, let's hear some stuff we don't all already know.

You guys mind elaborating on some of these, like Coach or Shawn? I don't really remember too much about anything before 2009 or so.
And Jericho's heel turn is probably my favorite storyline since I started watching wrestling.

- Bossman refusing to reach into Jake Roberts' snake bag and take out the Million Dollar Belt, because Slick did it for the money. He hands the bag back to Jake, and turns face in the process.
- Taker turning face by telling Jake he wasn't on Jake's side.
- Batista power bombing Trips through the table, and signing the contract to face him at Mania.

At SummerSlam it was Shane McMahon vs Eric Bischoff. Out of nowhere, someone hit Shane with a chair. The cameraman then reveals it to be Coach.

You guys mind elaborating on some of these, like Coach or Shawn? I don't really remember too much about anything before 2009 or so. And Jericho's heel turn is probably my favorite storyline since I started watching wrestling. basically in 2005, HBK was in a mini feud with Muhammed Hassan and Davari. He made a promo and asked for Hulk Hogan to be his tag team partner. Hogan accepted and the two beat Hassan and Davari at Backlash. Hogan and Michaels would then team sporadically over the summer and work a program. Story has it that Michaels didn't really want to be heel, and do a face/face program, but Hogan didn't want that, and wanted dick heel 97 like HBK. Anyway on a July RAW HBK turns on Hogan by hitting him with SCM after a match. This leads to a big summer feud, culminating with a match at Summerslam. Hogan beats him, and Michaels over sells everything. The next night Michaels pokes fun of the whole thing stating that "He fell victim to the superior Hulk Hogan and the vicious leg drop"or something like that, Then he quickly says "BACK TO REALITY!" and quickly moves into a quick feud with Chris Masters as a face. \\ www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpdxMi0AocQ

Meh, Taker's turn was out of left field with no buildup and no explanation.
Nothing has topped the breakup of the Rockers on the Barber Shop, and close behind that is the Austin/Bret double turn.

I wasn't watching at the time that it happened (didn't like wrestling anymore), but I've gone back and watched Batista's face turn a few times. It was killer.

"Are you going to kiss his ass"
"Hell no!"
"...is that because you think you're better than me?"
I know a lot of people hate heel "BikerTaker", but the turn was genius and it felt like probably the freshest thing he ever did in that gimmick.

I don't think it was a turn at all since they were already heel, but Owen and Bulldog joining up with Bret to reform The Hart Foundation in 1997.

Jericho's heel turn was damn near perfect.
Punk's first heel turn was also very good.

I wish I could say in hindsight that Orton's face turn was one of the best. It had the makings of something brilliant, cocky young heel gets the most sobering, humbling ass kicking he's ever received and becomes a better man from it. But he took his lumps and made a shitty comedy skit out of it, and attacked Evolution by probably beating up a stripper and hiding in her cake.
Bret Hart's heel turn, to me is the absolute standard in pro wrestling storytelling, let alone heel/face turns. Completely believable character development. A guy who rose to greatness in an era where it was cool to do the right thing, becoming inexplicably vilified for not being villainous enough, then when he becomes the villain, everyone still hates his guts.
