Anyone else get the feeling that since he is being the voice of reason for his team that he will turn on them and reveal that he is leading the shield?

I expect him to turn heel, but he needs to have nothing to do with them.

If he is, he's obviously been taking cues from Bully Ray. A good way to clear your name off the suspect list of a faction's leader is to take a few lumps from them.

I don't really see Orton leading the shield. If anything Orton will just turn heel by betraying his team rather than reveal he is leading the shield.

It would be pretty dumb considering they "put him on the shelf". Granted, you can say it was faked, but the beatdown certainly didn't look like something you would plan for. Besides, he's already attacked them and been in matches with them multiple times, what would be his motivation now, of all times?

I think we'll see the betrayal, but he won't be involved with them except hiring them for dirty work, a la Punk.

At this point, I think the last thing the Shield needs now is a leader. They are strong enough on their own.

It sort of makes sense.... a think a heel turn has been a long time coming (since 2010).

No. The last thing that Shield needs is a big-name wrestler overshadowing the three of them by being their leader.

It helps Shield none to be overshadowed by a veteran at this point. It helps Orton none to be haphazardly shoved into the Shield storyline. On top of that, it makes absolutely no sense since they not only jumped him, they injured him.
It just wouldn't work. At all. Period.

I'm almost 100% sure that Orton is going to be the guy the Shield is paired up with. Someone else in this thread said it, the Shield is a A&8's knockoff (albeit flashier), and they're going to just throw Orton in there with them & never mention the beatdowns they gave him ever again.

I am picturing Orton in the Shield attire and it just isn't working. It seems like he would have had to've been there from the get-go. Orton coming through the stands in all black and combat boots would just look stupid.

If Orton was the leader of the Shield, it'd be the least sensical swerve the WWE's done in years.

That would be an interesting development. I just wonder how they could make it work storywise.

That would absolutely ruin The Shield for me. It's fine just the 3 of them, they don't need a leader.

I wouldn't want to see it to be honest. Orton's already had his go at leading a group and I really wouldn't want to see it happen again. Want to see Orton as heel again but not this way.
If anybody is going to be leading The Shield it has to be Cena and only Cena. Otherwise keep The Shield as they are now.
