Anyone else here a fan of the Marvel Masterworks collections? I recently started collecting and have gotten Volume 1s of Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Daredevil, and X-Men. I absolutely loved the Spider-Man one but wasn't crazy about Iron Man. Both X-Men and Daredevil were really good and I haven't read Fantastic Four yet.
Any thoughts on these reprints or recommendations of which I should check out next? Captain America (both Golden Age and 60s), Hulk, Thor, Uncanny X-Men, Silver Surfer, and The Avengers are on my radar. I wish they had these for Punisher and Ghost Rider. Any word on those ever being released?

Soft or hardcovers? I must say, this is one area Marvel is beating out DC - a greater effort to get older material out in affordable content. Something DC really should be doing by trading their old archive program.

Soft covers....I've wondered why DC doesn't do this. I would love to read collections of the original Batman run.

DC has the Chronicles series, which reprints the stories in chronological order. I have Batman Chronicles 1-11. Highly recommended for those that want to read the old Batman stories in order of publication (so it combines everything: Detective Comics, Batman, World's Finest, and any one-offs and stuff like that).
The Marvel Masterworks series is also pretty cool, and has more pages than DC's Chronicles trade paperbacks, but also cost more as a result of that. Still a good way of reading the old stories from the beginning.

Still a good way of reading the old stories from the beginning. The Chronicles are nice, but only three sets - Supes, Bats and Wonder Woman - are from the Golden Age. Flash, Green Lantern and soon Justice League pick up in the Silver Age. For some odd reason, no Chronicles for the JSA, Flash, Green Lantern, Shazam or Plastic Man, all of which one would think would sell. But yes, lately DC has had... issues with its past and seems less than inclined to do much beyond the Silver Age. Some Bronze Age in increasing numbers though. In fact, just solicited collections for Super Secret Society of Super Villains and the Joker series, both victims of the Implosion in the 70s. I know way too much about comics, I fear and I digress.
