The Miz. If they try building Ryback as a serious main eventer, he would probably be my pick.

I'm going with Miz, though it's entirely possible some guy from before my time like Diesel could have been worse.

There's no way Miz is worse than Alberto Del Rio. ESPECIALLY if we are only counting WWE Championship/RAW Main Event spots. SO boring, and no character beyond 'My Destiny!!!'. (Dis)Honorable mention to Rey Mysterio's less-than-one-hour reign, and any other short reigns like that.
Miz has all the personality and mic skills that a superstar needs. He's just as good in the ring as Cena was in his first couple years, and has had NO feuds with any skilled vets other than Cena so how is he gonna get better? Cena got better by wrestling Kurt Freaking Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and HB Freakin K! Miz gets to fight green guys like Cesaro and Barrett (who might come across like legit wrestlers but are nowhere near the level of Angle or HBK). All the guys that Miz gets to work with on the regular, are guys that need help themselves. Kofi and Truth aren't going to teach Miz anything at all. ALL of the current midcard is suffering from not having skilled veterans to learn from weekly.
Orton and Cena got to have weekly matches with THE BEST on their way to the top. Now THE BEST, are Orton and Cena. Punk said himself there are no real lockerroom leaders left other than him and Cena, and to be honest, for the past year or two, all the top regulars are more concerned with getting booked against part-timers than helping the next group of midcarders break the glass ceiling.
If anything, I'd say Daniel Bryan should be stepping up and helping his peers train a bit more. He's the only one at their level that can wrestle on the level of an Angle or a Guerrero.
To be perfectly honest you have a better chance of getting attention and training from vets if you are a NOBODY, straight out of NXT, a JOBBER, than if you have worked your butt off for the last 4-6 years to get a regular spot on the show. Truth, Kofi, Miz, Sheamus are all left to fend for themselves. These mid carders might be helped out by the occasional Jericho appearance (who is like the Rock of the mid-card!), or more likely, attempt to become better wrestlers by having endless feuds with the technical wizards Kane and Big Show.

Did you seriously just call Cesaro green?!? Really...The dude is a beast in the ring...I am sorry but I had to stop reading after that

Punk said himself there are no real lockerroom leaders left other than him and Cena, and to be honest, for the past year or two, all the top regulars are more concerned with getting booked against part-timers than helping the next group of midcarders break the glass ceiling. A few things here: For starters, Antonio Cesaro "comes across as a legit wrestler" because he is a legit wrestler. About as legit as they get. One of the best in the company, IMHO. Also, you just defended Miz's being champion with the skill he has now, with about five years under his belt, by comparing him to John Cena when he was still wet behind the ears. Even then, if you look at Cena's debut match against Kurt Angle, and you see the moves he pulled off, there's still daylight between Cena then and Miz now. And "weekly matches with the best"? John Cena feuded with Umaga and Khali when he was on the come up. And in the past three years, Orton has feuded with all the same guys that Miz has been feuding with (Kofi in 2009 and Wade Barrett from late 2011 to 2012). And it's not like Miz hasn't had veterans to work with. Without even mentioning the fact that he actually did have months-long feuds with two of the men you mentioned, John Cena and Daniel Bryan, or pointing out that the guy he just got done with is a more-than-ten year veteran in the business who has wrestled all over the world, it's not like he can't get advice from people backstage. I assume that's what the trainers are for.

Since he only worked main event matches and went straight into a program with Hogan, I nominate Zeus.

Some severe Miz hate here. Not every champion has to fit into some concrete set criteria, he was entertaining and that's what matters.

And for those saying Del Rio, while I'm no huge fan he had that fantastic ladder match against Christian and a great last man standing one with Cena, so I can't in good conscience call him the worst.

For the length he was on the top, Bret Hart. Wasn't the draw someone on top needed to be, wasn't all that charismatic and Randy Savage was sent to the commentary booth when he could have easily filled the top Face role.

Sheamus
Too soon, a one-note character, a goofy look.

Diesel He sounded bored, had limited "power" moves, had crap music, and never broke out of the "HBK's bodyguard" mould while in the WWF Agreed. I believe it was Jim Cornette who referred to Diesel as "a good wrestler, but 'good' is about it".

I know it was due to lack of talent at the time, but I could never buy Bulldog as a main event guy. And he was in what, 5 PPV main events in 95-96? Not to mention a couple in WCW before that.

It has nothing to do with him being WWE Champion, a main eventer, or even his background or personality. I'm just not a fan of his character at all. To be honest, I can't even see a character change helping that for me either. It's like Hacksaw Jim Duggan. I was never a fan of anything the guy did. Back in the day he was an instant channel changer for me, just like Miz is now. Hell, for all I care, they could be the two greatest, nicest guys to ever walk the earth, but I wouldn't shed a tear if neither one of them ever appeared on my TV again. Edit: I don't hate the guy, I just have no use for him. What I do hate is the term "hater" with a passion.

Miz has had some pretty great matches like the first Raw of 2011 with John Morrison and the TLC match with Punk and Del Rio. He's had good matches with Randy Orton.

Truth be told, I feel the same about the Rock, especially that internal, and often external sigh every time he comes on-screen. Point being, pretty much all these posts are, for the most part, opinion and should be treated as such.
