So....HOF induction next year? .......am I the only one who saw this and thought "Did Vince know about this news when he posted his 1st Twitter on Monday?" "Could THIS be the Friday night announcement???" I thought about it.

I don't know. I'm scared to hope, scared to dream.
Deep down, nothing has changed I fear. Just Martha gets money, WWE gets out of her doghouse. For now.

This seems to just be about the unpaid royalties and use of Owen on DVD covers (which I think is what got them in hot water to begin with - The Hart Anthology release). I wouldn't get my hopes up about anything. Owen's long-term legacy depends on his children.

What does that have to do with anything? Well, it's from the Washington Post. Perhaps in their mind they need to give non-wrestling fan readers a reason to care about this story...? So....HOF induction next year? .......am I the only one who saw this and thought "Did Vince know about this news when he posted his 1st Twitter on Monday?" "Could THIS be the Friday night announcement???" I'm hoping for 2014. He needs to be recognized and honored by his family, peers, and friends for what he accomplished in his career. It would be the first time in 14 years that people could hear and talk about the guy without being connected to OTE 1999.

So....HOF induction next year? Yeah! About time Martha gets in! I don't want to say McMahon-Hart lawsuits are a holdover from the 90's, but if this litigation went on any longer it would main event a TNA pay-per-view. *The lawyers hash out a deal* Vince: "Whattamaneuver!"

Does this mean we'll get an Owen Hart DVD now? Because, that would be awesome.

First Bruno agrees to go into the WWE HoF and now this is settled, 2 things many people thought they'd never see happen. Who at WWE headquarters made the deal with Satan? I'd also add WWE settling things with the World Wildlife Fund. Never in a million years did I think we would see the scratch logo uncensored, or hear "the WWF" in a wrestling context again. "WWE lawsuit" is currently the #3 trend on Yahoo right now.

A little surprised, have to see if we hear a little more detail on this. I do hope it opens up the chance for an Owen DVD and so on.
There have been a few 'hell frozen over' moments in the last year or two. Seems to much of a coincidence to not suspect Hunter is a factor in some of this, even if maybe only persuading Vince to loosen the purse strings a little.

The previous lawsuits were already settled. Doubtful that this leads to anything new. As long as the widow of an employee killed on the job doesn't want the company to profit off the name, then it'd be horrible press for the WWE to do so.

My hope is Martha got some royalties out of this, as that was my biggest issue with WWE's part. So I hope she got a payday. She absolutely did. I just wonder who made the decision to settle.

I'd also add Raven being on a Top 10 list among recent improbabilities

Martha's recent lawsuit sought to keep WWE from using Owen Hart footage at all in the future, as she claimed it violated a contract that WWE signed. That part of her lawsuit was thrown out by a judge a year ago. I have a hard time believing that WWE ever agreed to such a thing, and I doubt they did now as part of a settlement. WWE likely will continue to profit off Owen through selling his matches on home video and Classics On Demand as, unlike with action figures and video games, they don't need Martha's permission to do it.

I don't know what some of you think this means, but to me, this is just WWE deciding they didn't want a verdict in her lawsuit alleging that they owed her royalties. They paid her and we will never know the exact details. This doesn't mean Martha suddenly will be open to WWE putting Owen in the Hall of Fame. This doesn't mean Martha and WWE are friendly now. This means WWE will be paying Martha Hart money. That's all. This is a totally separate lawsuit from the one already settled that stemmed from the 1990s. That earlier lawsuit was in relation to Owen's death.
In my view, WWE should pay her whenever they owe her. They should respect her wishes regarding Hall of Fame. She can't stop them from releasing video of Owen that they own.
