Every year it seems musicians, sports stars, entertainers, film and television stars show up to Wrestlemania by the droves and WWE is there to take their picture and acknowledge the attendance of them all.
I always wonder if WWE pays them as plants to make appearance or are they given free tickets to the show in exchange for a camera check. I always question if certain celebrities are actually wrestling fans. Even the times they attend RAW, like when the whole Green Bay offensive line sits in the front row. Did they score free tickets or are they actually attending on their own accord.

No, they're not. This was actually covered in a book I read and was mentioned in that documentary they put out a few years ago. I think they do pay some of them, but they are few and far between and mostly things like the person who does the Anthem/Beautiful.
The celebrities "pay" is being involved with the show. The rub, so to speak, is the payment.
This is especially true in respect to the musical acts (non-anthem). I work in that industry and have seen the contracts. They play the crap out of the artists music on WWE TV for 2 months and possibly get a live performance in front of 50-70000 people. The only thing the WWE pays for is travel, hotel, and obviously they cover all the production costs since its their show.

They probably get free tickets.
If they have a family it's a free day out with the family in exchange for waving in a camera for ten seconds.
And it's mania, you don't have to be a fan to go to Mania and enjoy yourself, I bet it's really fascinating to non fans.
I have no knowledge of American Football and when I've seen it on tv it bored me, but if someone gave me free superbowl tickets hell yeah I'd go for the whole spectacle of it and to soak up the atmosphere and gain an understanding of what that events all about

He just tweeted a photo of his way to wrestlemania. Is he paid to attend or was given free tickets, or did he buy tickets as a fan?

I also think he's involved with the show. He's also a huge fan and has said so out of character. Snooki, I would imagine is probably being paid something.

People in the crowd waving, I think are the ones who are fans.
The ones who show up and do a skit (while also possibly being fans) are the ones who get paid.

They probably get free tickets. If they have a family it's a free day out with the family in exchange for waving in a camera for ten seconds. This is also true. IE when you see dweebs like Fred Durst in the audience or any "big name" in the front rows, those are 99% comps. Also, all of the talent involved with the show get an "allotment" of tickets for family and such and huge discounts if they need to buy more. I was on a comp ticket to Mania 2000 via a friend who's family member worked for WWE's legal department at the time. Wrestlemania has TONS of comps. Id imagine 5-10% of the gate are comped tickets. So say 700-1000 tickets are freebies. This covers everything from talent comps to contest stuff. The front row celebrities who are onscreen for 3 seconds are there on comps. There is no question about it. JR has even tweeted about it. And the ones who do a skit are definitely paid espc if they're members of an acting union like SAG.

I'm sure the celebrity initiates it through their agent, who contacts the WWE, who sets them up (with tickets, and VIP access and parking so they're not milling around with the plebeians).

Alot of the ones who do the Skits don't even show up. I assume alot of the Mania backstage pretapes are done well in advance whenever the WWE is somewhere conveniant for that celeb, that's why the same celebrities who popped up on Raw would pop up at mania, I imagine they'd tape the skit at the Raw the celebrity was appearing on anyway and then save it and use it at mania.

Anybody want to comp me a ticket to a WM 30 in New Orleans.. Find out the name of a local newspaper, find out the number of the WWE press office. Call them and say you're from said paper and would like some tickets, see what they say. if it fails work out why it failed then ring again but this time get someone else to speak and give the name of the local radio station. I have no idea if it works but that's what I'd try. though if you dont live in New Orleans it would probably be better to claim to be from a local paper in your area or a website or a podcast or a youtube channel so when you give your home address for them to send the ticket too it's not as suspicious. Hell make a paper/website/radioshow/podcast whatever up, be creative. No idea if the WWE would do any checks or anything but it's seriously worth a try.
