IF Stone Cold WAS to wrestle his final match at next years Mania against CM Punk, I am convinced it would be bigger than The Rock's return.
I think Rock's return has been good. He is clearly slower and a little off the pace after his time away, but it was good to see him, he brought in casual fans and he did put over Cena, the companies current top guy, last night. We thought he'd never wrestle again, but the guy has basically been working two demanding jobs at once and he's done a commendable job.
However I think an Austin return would be bigger. I'm not sure it would be bigger in terms of tickets sold etc because Rock is now a major, major movie star, far eclipsing Austin in that regard. However I think it would feel like a bigger deal to the fans who do tune in and are familiar with attitude era.
Watching Rock wrestle Cena last night didn't seem as epic and huge as I thought it would be (admittedly it felt more so on the first occasion). The fans didn't seem as insanely into it as I thought they would be and I couldn't help but wonder if Austin could (assuming he could still work a decent match) provoke a better reaction from the crowd. There is also the issue of some lingering resentment in a small minority of the crowd because Rock is a movie star now.
Do you think Austin's potential return would be bigger than Rocks? I think by bigger I don't just mean in terms of ticket sales/buy rate etc. I mean crowd pops, spectacle and 'memorable moments'.
For the record I've always thought Austin was a better talker than Rock, a better wrestler than Rock and a better entertainer than Rock. (By a slim margin).

Austin is the greatest wrestler of all times, so yes I believe that his return would be bigger.

On another note I just want Hogan to walk out in front of a Wrestlemania crowd one more time (not to wrestle obviously).

I just want to know if the proceeds of it would be going to the same womans shelter as those from Punk vs Brown were supposed to.

I wasn't really an Austin fan, but IMO, during the Attitude, Rock kind of felt like the Ultimate Warrior to Austin's Hogan.
Austin's return wouldn't get the media buzz, but it'd be a much bigger deal to fans.

I'm not really sure that it would, it feels as if Austin's time has passed to me. The Rock can show up and still do his thing, but the Stone Cold character was really of it's time IMO. Sure the show would do big business, but I'm not convinced it would do better than Rocky's return.

Bigger? Not sure.
Better? Almost definitely.

After what Punk pulled off with Taker last night...bring it on. Austin putting over Punk at WM 30 would be amazing.

I'd say that it's more likely that Austin would give him about 3 Stunners and make him drink beer to be honest. Besides it's not like Taker is a bad worker even at this stage of his career.

We can probably expect a more even crowd too with Austin/Punk. Im 100% for it, its a match ive been waiting for ever since Summer of Punk.

More likely, maybe. I don't want the match to happen unless Punk wins though. Austin doesn't gain anything from it, and Punk's already lost to Triple H, Undertaker, and Rock. Not a fan of the Attitude Era guys still being better than everyone. I have no idea how healthy Austin is, but I'd say if he's healthy enough to have the match he could probably work on Taker's level, and Punk can give the match an extra dose of athleticism.

An Austin return run with Punk deserves to be bigger than The Rock's return. Austin did more and meant more to the business while he was on top. As a massive Austin mark I would be delighted and I may even be a little biased with this one, but the logic is there.

I dunno, Rock felt like a huge deal because he rarely every came back. Austin turning up in my mind is only marginally less tedious than Dusty Rhodes, Jim Duggan, etc. turning up. Granted it would be a different thing if he was turning up to wrestle. But I still feel that the shine has gone off Austin more, due to repeat exposure. This was never really the case with the Rock

The problem with an Austin vs. Punk match is, unlike Lesnar and Rock, Austin himself has admitted he has one more match left in the tank.
One.
There likely wouldn't be a rematch, a rubber match, a blow off match, the team up tag match at a PPV....it would be Austin vs. Punk, and whoever loses just has to go home and cry about it.
