Pretty straight forward question. Personally, I love them and I always have. When I was real young, I had a Bozo tape that was primarily cartoons, but it had cut-ins with the actual, IRL Bozo and I just loved him. Lately, though, since I'm a frontman in my band/solo project deal, I've been watching a lot of videos of clowns and taking influence from them. That may sound weird for a band situation, but since a lot of the times clowns don't really talk and instead rely on facial expressions and body movements, there's a lot that one can learn from clowns in terms of stage presence. What does FAN say about clowns? Yea or nay?

Replace fans with clowns and you'll get my general feeling on clowns.

I Don't really like them. Then again I don't really hate them, either.
Still, I'd take them over mimes.

I was always indifferent to them. Although I imagine it must be rough for legit clowns nowadays, since the prominent image of them to the public is either a murderous psycho (Pennywise, Joker, the ICP in their lyrics) or just on the sleazy side (Shakes, Krusty, Dr. Rockzo) Genuine nice clown portrayals in the media are pretty rare.

Clowns are alright. I remember watching that episode of Animaniacs with the Jerry Lewis-esque clown and feeling sorry for the poor bastard. LOL @ Plotz sending him to Wakko just to see him get beaten up, though.
Speaking of coulrophobia though, what triggers it?

LOL @ Plotz sending him to Wakko just to see him get beaten up, though. Speaking of coulrophobia though, what triggers it? It's probably less specifically the clown thing and more that you're dealing with someone whose identity is extremely obscured, acting in over-exaggerated mannerisms. Not really knowing what someone whose real face you can't see (especially if they're the whiteface type) and whose motivations you really can't reliably pinpoint can be unnerving. Going back to the original post, it's probably the sort of thing that I should be studying myself, but I just don't really have the stomach for it. I know after about 2 minutes, it would grate on me in an "the annoyance isn't worth any possible benefit" way. Despite the fact that, for me, especially in about 2 months or so, it probably would be immense.

I have yet to see a clown that's neither overtly evil or secretly evil. They can be the most terrifying creatures walking the planet. Seeing "IT" and that "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" episode when I was a kid didn't exactly help matters.

This thread just reminded me that I once got a clown's phone number at a kids party, I should have called her because she was cute as hell.

They don't bother me.
Fun fact: I sat front row, center camera at the Bozo Show as a kid. My sister's friend played the Grand Prize Game, but only got to bucket #5. She won a wagon if I remember correctly.
