Seriously?
How many failed pushes is this goof going to get? This is what... his 6th midcard title run (not including his tag runs) and not one of them has been memorable, given us a memorable feud or a single memorable moment. Why not give somebody else a chance as the midcard champ instead of needlessly throwing a bone to Kofi Kingston?
I'm sure he's just going to be a placeholder champ again ready to drop it to a heel (I predict he'll drop it to Fandango in a few weeks) but... why use Kofi as the placeholder? Why not give Alex Riley or someone else who hasn't really received a decent push a chance?
Plus, it kinda goes against Cessaro's storyline of "never been beaten by an American for the belt" by having a Ghanaian win the US title from him. Good storytelling would have an American...like Riley, win the belt from Cessaro and shut him up.

Because WWE's goal is to torment you.
Serious answer: Kofi is still over and is the current gatekeeper for the midcard.

What's the difference between a "failed" and an aborted push?

Because they don't want to build up any midcard face at all for reasons I can't explain.
Seriously they've got guys like Yoshi and Gabriel and Riley and over guys like Ryder and Santino. I literally can't think of why they don't use them instead.

He's just going to lose a lot (non-title matches, of course) anyway.

What's the difference between a "failed" and an aborted push? Seriously. Kofi gets the rugged pulled from under him everytime he starts to get a semblance of a push. How exactly is he failing? It makes about as much since as saying it's only Zack Ryder's fault that his singles run crashed and burned.

Because he's The Wildcat! ...rawr... Also, this is his SEVENTH midcard title run, not sixth. Dude has not progressed at all since 2009.

What's the difference between a "failed" and an aborted push? Even better question: Define "push?" He's just gonna keep jobbing, just as United States champion. Man hasn't gotten a real push since the tail end of 2009, and that one they aborted the f*** out of for no reason. Ergo, OP makes no sense as the guy hasn't gotten a push in nearly four years and I can't think of any push he's had long enough to fail.

These days, how is it a push to win the US title?

He's Koko B Ware. A black guy who wears colourful outfits and gets a pop. That's about as far as he can go. A worthless title makes no difference. It's certainly no better or worse than Cesaro being champion, with the tedious gimmick WWE have inflicted on him

Kofi ALWAYS has a title. He jumps between the US, IC, and Tag belts like I've never seen before.

Because Antonio Cesaro is now in the "down cycle" of WWE's build-you-up-knock-you-down booking style.

I'm not sure why this is upsetting so many people. It's the U.S title for Christ sake, holding it means you're only slightly more important than the other jobbers.
