Anyone else remember this show? Of all the knock-offs to come out following the initial explosion of popularity that Power Rangers had, this one was probably the best.
I got the first DVD ordered from Mill Creek Entertainment's website. Paid only $10.81 after everything, and delivery only took about 5 days. The show itself... has not aged well, but it's a fun look back into the past.
I still want to know exactly how this show managed to get Tim Curry as the voice of the villain, Kilokahn. Let's be honest, he is the best part of the show, and probably the most remembered.
And episode 2 has a scene that mentions the words "terrorism" and "terrorist"
Huh.

I first caught this at for some reason at the bizzare time of 5am on a school day....and outside of Power Rangers was freaking awesome.
I just loved how it was PR at its core but sending them into computer networks to fight off viruses which IMO looked ALOT better than alot of the PR monsters at the time took it to a whole other level of cool.
I remember I had drago or whatever it was called and a black and silver servo action figure and I know the show did not last long but I imagine the black and silver servo was to be like some evil version they had planned for another season atleast that was my theory but sadly never came to be , and much like mystic knights this was cancelled far too soon.

I could only watch the show via the odd VHS release, but for some reason I had all the toys. I think my folks bought the set for me at a liquidation sale somewhere thinking they were Power Rangers

I watched this show whenever I could since it was on during school so I really only half days and days off till reruns in the summer. I remember the finale and thinking there has to be another one where he gets to be a human but nope, he's stuck in the computer.

Oh yeah, definitely remember this show. I think it was WB that aired it here weekday mornings, sometime between 6 and 7:30 in the morning, since I'd watch it before going to wait for the school bus. I distinctly remember how the first four months of fourth grade, my morning was watch this, then wait for the bus in my dad's car while playing the Batman The Animated Series handheld game.
I used to have blank tapes filled with this and Power Rangers. No idea if I still do or not.
I think this show was a more mature Power Rangers in certain ways. A lot of the villain plots(cutting off the world's food supply, turning all the water into acid, overheating the school, trying to cause World War III) were things Power Rangers wouldn't think of. Look at how different the first season was from Zyuranger. A lot of that had to do with making the show kid friendly.
Superhuman Samurai, to their credit, didn't change the plots from Gridman, although due to less episodes of the source material, we ended up seeing repeat fights more often than in Power Raangers. But as a whole, I really did enjoy this show. And certain episodes do still hold up pretty well.
The biggest shock to my system though is that Sam Collins would later go on to be Shawn Hunter's brother. Watching Samurai on Youtube, I just can't see it.

Among the Power Ranger followers popping up around this time, I liked it a lot more than VR Troopers at least.

I liked the show, especially due to its insane commitment to using alliteration for its title.
Clearly, the best of the PR "follow-the-leader" programs.

Hell yeah, I remember that show.
Didn't Kath Soucie voice your one's little sister, if I recall?

I think the show was originally first run syndication, which is how they were able to get away with more intense plots. It was similar to Saban's VR Troopers, which is how they were able to do action that was a lot more brutal than anything Power Rangers was able to do, with impaling and decapitations of the MOTWs a common occurrence.
Also interesting, DiC didn't have any of the Gridman suits or props, relying solely on the footage. VR Troopers, which first started around the same time, had very minimal suits and props, but Gridman was less than a year old when Syber Squad started, and the two Japanese Shows that made up VR Troopers' first season were about 7 and 6 years old, respectively.

I recall a Saturday morning run where they kind of hinted at a Reboot crossover, not really having characters appear on the respective shows but setting it up line they were aware of each other.

I had a lot of the toys from this series, but I have no memory of even watching the show. Weird.

It was no Tattooed teenage alien fighters from Beverly hills. Lol This show is a mixed bag for me. There were times when they had good ideas, but other times, the writing was horrible. And the sub-par acting and lack of budget sure didn't help either. I can't help but feel this show could've been good, but was held back by both incompetence and an over-saturated market for live action super hero shows for kids.

I think I saw the first episode of Tattooed teenage alien fighters from Beverly hills a few years ago on Youtube.
From what I remember from that one episode, I didn't think it was too bad. Not exactly great, but then again, it was only one episode.

...I remember VR Troopers and that's about it. I would not have remembered it except the girl on it was a little hot. That and they had a talking dog which was an abysmal idea.

Jeb was kind of a hold over from the Metalder footage. Only Metalder did it a lot more... reasonably.

Among the Power Ranger followers popping up around this time, I liked it a lot more than VR Troopers at least. WAY better than VR Troopers, which frankly was a dull show. Can't remember if I liked it more than Beetleborgs, though the theme was better.

Heh. One episode, they forgot to take out the green screen. It's just there in the background behind Amp, and not replaced with the normal background.
