It's not over. There's apparently been a shooting at MIT. Hardly any info right now. Hope it's just some nut firing into the air: emergency.mit.edu/Edit: Conflicting reports. Right now it appears that a shooter shot an officer during a robbery and may be on campus. Confusing to say the least.

How is this worse than any of those weeks in history where we lost several thousand people in one moment?

How is this worse than any of those weeks in history where we lost several thousand people in one moment? It's really not, but when you have so much bad stuff happening on top of each other like this, it's easy to lose hope and it's easy to say, "oh my god, this is the worst week ever!" I've my fair share of "worst weeks ever" for sure. It was a bad week, definitely. But there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hell, not to minimize the tragedy that has happened this week but we have had single days worse then this week (9/11, your choice of date in WW I or II, etc...) Apparently the suspect is wearing a cowboy hat...ok then. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) The officer apparently is not looking good and has life threatening injuries.

How is this worse than any of those weeks in history where we lost several thousand people in one moment? This is a week where senseless acts of destruction, frustration, incompetence, and chaos are happening one right after the other. Of course there have been weeks in the past that top the death toll and destruction of this week, but this week has just been relentless in terms of the amount and variation of bad news coming in. The thread title is just my hyperbolic way of saying, "enough." I'm frustrated. I need this next week to be without terror and tragedy. Again, I'm gonna go into hopeful mode. Look at the tragedy in Boston. Yeah, it was awful. But in it's wake, look at all the good that happened. People opening their homes to total strangers, Marathon runners continuing to run all the way to hospitals to give blood to those who needed it, the city, state, country, and to an extent, the world coming together in the name of healing and justice. Doesn't sound like the worst week ever in my book.

Doesn't sound like the worst week ever in my book. Good point. I've read multiple stories about people in Boston and West, TX, open their arms to the victims and bystanders of this week's events. Hard times like these tend to bring out the best in people, and separates the ones who love from the ones who seek to destroy. In spite of all the wonderful displays of humanity and kindness I've seen, these dark events seem to cast an ugly shadow over everything this week that's been hard to shake. I've lived in Massachusetts for 10 years before moving to New Hampshire; Boston is like a second home to me. To see what happened there, along with everything else happening in the US and Iran, it's been difficult to say the least. Going into Boston every other weekend has become a thing for me. My favorite shopping center, Prudential, is right next to the marathon site. My sister doesn't live that far from where the explosions were. My mother works with people who were there. One of them crossed the finish two minutes before the bombs went off. It's not easy. I've been crying every night, because I just can't wrap my head around something so awful happening where I live. But the good really does outweigh the bad and it's what keeps me going. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Shitty stuff happens all the time. Everywhere. Every. Single. Day. This week is no different.

Another thing to remember is it is now April, 19th, the anniversaries of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the ending of the Waco siege.

It just depends where you look and what you're looking for. Lower-class neighborhood crime happens constantly, but it's ignored en masse for a whole bunch of reasons.

The Black Plague, over months it wiped out millions, taking out all most all of Europe. Now that was the worst week in history. Or month.

If it's any solace, they caught one of the bombers and the other's dead. As for Washington dysfunction, that's just the new norm. I wouldn't get too upset about that.
Well, I would, but I wouldn't dwell on it. Write your congressman.

A major earthquake had hit China in the same province rocked by a quake five years ago. Two are already confirmed dead. Aftershocks continue.
And the hits just keep on coming.

While it has been no bed of roses, which in retrospect doesn't sound that good, it has been just another week. Sure there was a major news story with Boston being in a lockdown, but when every thing is added up we will continue to strive and survive.
