Well, even though he lost, Gil definitely proved that he deserved to be ranked as high as he has all these years. He'll be back. He'll get another shot.

He didn't challenge you, Chael. You badgered the process for an unnecessary fight that Dana wanted because people enjoy watching you lose.

Not everyday you see a guy fight for the title in the weight class above him after getting embarrassed in his last fight in his own division.

That's right, Curt. He may have won this battle, but for Ben, the war is about to begin. Happy marriage!

Excellent night of fights with Mir/Cormier being the only dud, that includes the prelims as well.

Chael Sonnen had a great interview on the Steve Austin Podcast. I much rather have him retired than trying to hype a fight everyone and their mother knows he's gonna lose.

Chael Sonnen had a great interview on the Steve Austin Podcast. I much rather have him retired than trying to hype a fight everyone and their mother knows he's gonna lose. The only way for him to win is to, by some miracle, get inside and get a takedown against Jon Jones. That was absurd for me just to even type.

Has anyone noticed how little Jones is promoting this fight? I seriously think he really isn't remotely interested in fighting Sonnen. I wonder if there's still unresolved issues between Bones and the UFC after last year's PPV cancellation scandal.

I think he's interested in kicking Chael's ass and embarrassing him but other than that he probably thinks there are other better fights out there for him.

Since Chael is so eager to put himself over, I don't see a problem in Jones not wanting to hype his fight. I mean, everyone knows Chael will lose. Why not giving him enough room to talk smack and look like an idiot when he loses?

Chael's fight is being sold on the fact that people want to see him shut up and lose for being so delusional. It's basically UFC's version of five minutes alone with a heel manager.

According to Dana the winner of Gray Maynard vs. TJ Grant next month at UFC 160 will get the next shot at Henderson.

I wonder if there's still unresolved issues between Bones and the UFC after last year's PPV cancellation scandal. That's the reason why I think Chael has a chance in this fight due to how little interest and motivation Jones has coming into it. It's entirely possible that Jones sleepwalks into that cage and allows Chael to take him down for five straight rounds. It's doubtful that will happen (at least for more than a round) but it is possible.

Aside from the Mir/Cormier fight it was a great card though I can't help but chuckle how Nate Diaz showed why blocking head kicks with your face is a bad idea.
Hopefully Jones will destroy Chael Sonnen in humiliating fashion next week so everyone who is still bitching about UFC 151 being canceled can shut up.

Really good card.
Brown/Mein featued a great first round and knock out.
Loved seeing a Diaz brother get knocked the hell out.
Cormeir/Mir was a bore. Cormeir is the first fighter to beat Mir via anything other than a TKO. Not impressed.
Good main event. Henderson seems to be like GSP. Always going to five rounds with his opponents although his fights are a lot closer, the Nate Diaz one aside. It might have helped him if he didn't spend half the fight brushing his hair out of his eyes. Seriously, he was doing that as Melendez was about ready to pop him in the face. Good fight by Melendez but he let it get away from him. He had the first two rounds, I think Henderson stole the third, definitely took the fourth, and the last round could have been judged either way. Congrats on the engagement, Henderson!

-Everytime Bendo pushes his hair back, his opponent should be ready to punch or kick him in the face. Bendo seems more concerned with that than actually fighting.
-Mir's stand-up game is absolutely pathetic. Lean against the cage, don't fight back, and hope your opponent suddenly ends up on the ground. They were mentioning on one website that he was ignoring his trainer Greg Jackson's advice to get off the cage. Mir needds to retire if he's not going to make any effort to fight back when he's on his feet.

Chael's fight is being sold on the fact that people want to see him shut up and lose for being so delusional. It's basically UFC's version of five minutes alone with a heel manager. I understand that. My question is how often can you do something like that in a sport that is legitimate where people have to fight to prove they earn title shots? You can maybe do this once, but you can't make this a habit in a sport that still struggles to gain some mainstream recognition as a legitimate sport.
