I like the idea, but it seems like a bit of a dick move to just roll in with your own game when it's Double H's turn. We're trying let newer hosts show their stuff and Batman 2 happened like a game ago. Other than that I think you've got a winner.

Oh no, I wanna play TF2 Mafia....I am a huge tf2 fan. Been waiting for that to be my comeback game for awhile. But I do think he should chop down the number if players sober can get started. That way when the game starts we can start trying to reinvigorate the mafia scene. And if a new host wants to do it I am fine with that. I just offered my Batman game because I am interested in trying to revive it. We can do all the things I suggested but with a different game.

I'm game either way. I will say that ever since the forum changed formats that I commonly neglect the actual forum sections and just go straight to participated threads. At least on my phone. That might be a reason I wasn't aware that there is a TF2 game in need of players. I'll have to see about fixing that later.

How's it going goombahs? Had an idea regarding how a Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones game could go and it would be a radical departure. It's a rough idea but here goes. See if you can spot the big gaping hole in the idea. Or at least, the one I can see.
Littlefinger tells Sansa a very insightful thing late in A Storm of Swords: "There are two kinds of people in King's Landing: players and pieces."
First, there is no "Town" or "Mafia." Instead the game is evenly divided between the warring Houses and each is headed by two "Players": A Patriarch and a Matriarch.
The Patriarch is like the Godfather. It is Bulletproof and instead of investigating Town, they investigate as the same House as the Cop investigating them. He also delegates Night Kills.
The Matriarch is like the Cult Leader role. They convert others to their House. If the Matriarch is killed or lynched, all converted stay in the last House they were in but there may be other House to still convert them as the game goes on.
The Patriarch and Matriarch cannot be converted to other Houses.
A House may choose to Kill or Convert at night, but not both.
I'm thinking that the Patriarchs and Matriarchs can talk at night but noone else in the House. I also have the idea that Patriarchs and Matriarchs may freely PM members of their House, or at least, who they think is of their House...
All others in the game are "Pieces." They may not talk to each other at Night and they receive orders from the Players. The twists are that no "Piece" is obligated to obey and they could very well in fact be a member of a rival House acting against the interests of their old House.
If a Patriarch delegates a Night Kill to a member of their House, that member now has a temporary Night Kill power for the duration of the Night, but it goes away once it is the next Day. Furthermore, a "Piece" can either Kill or use a Power if they have one, not both. Regardless, a Piece granted a Kill ability can choose whoever they want to kill, not necessarily who they were told to kill.
A member of a House may Kill a member of their own House. After all, who can you trust?
The Last House Standing wins the Iron Throne.
Thoughts? I think it is a solid start, but there are certain chinks in the armor. Like what happens in the Day? Are the players trying to lynch someone? Why?
That said, if we assume a typical Mafia game of 12 players, may as well play it simple: 6 Starks versus 6 Lannisters. That's 4 "Players" (2 Patriarchs and 2 Matriarchs) and 8 "Pieces" (4 per House) for them to move around and try to outmaneuver each other with.
Future games could feature Targaryens, Boratheons, Greyjoys, Tullys, etc. Big enough games could feature more than just the two Houses, and the ratios could be played with too. Frankly, I can see this concept working for themes beyond GoTh. WWF/WCW anyone? DC/Marvel? Just need to work the kinks out.

I think the main problem at the time seemed to be that there is nothing to do in the day. Now that I think about it though, no, during the day everyone is trying to figure out who is with which house and try to kill the Matriarch or Patriarch at Night. Essentially, the Lynch is replaced with a second minimum Night Kill.
And if that's so, then the Patriarch's Bulletproof ability ought to be reconsidered. And this being A Game of Thrones/ASoIaF, Bulletproof is hardly in the spirit anyway.
So, regardless of that game idea, might there be renewed interest yet?

I think I'll do my best to renew interest again with an initiation game, like I did last time. I can run a new WWE themed game again, since we're a wrestling forum and then after that we can do things back to the waiting lisr with Double H's game right after, with hopefully new interest in the game since I think a good amount of time has passed. If you guys want me to run a WWE themed game again and are fine with it next to help renew interest let me know. I ask, because I know there is a long list here of others. Boilerroom, I'll look up your full idea in a moment. I see Game of Thrones, and I love that series.

I'd certainly be up for a new game to rejuvenate the scene. That Mafia Crisis game will need a thriving scene to start.
