I know they technically didn't have Raw after Benoit but I was wondering has RAW ever had a week off or have they been doing 52 episodes a year since the beginning?

It used to be pre-empted every year by the Westminster Dog Show.

During the 'Westminster' years they just moved RAW to another night, but the only times I can recall a RAW not being the way it should be is when they aired the 'best of RAW' specials a few years back

They don't call it the longest weekly episodic bla bla bla for nothing.
By the way, did Cole say it tonight? I could have sworn I didn't hear it.

I think those still count as actual first run episodes, since it's a "best of" and not a full on repeat.
As far as I can remember, aside from moving it to another night or putting it late at night, Raw has never missed a week.

Only times I can think of was when they were interrupted by the dog show and the U.S. Open. Even then, they were usually shown on Saturday instead.

I know they missed a few weeks in 1995. From the SummerSlam go-home show until the week after Labor Day. The first Nitro ran unopposed because of this.
I think most other years, they either ran another night(a couple Raws in 1996 were on Friday instead of Monday, and a few in 1998 were on Saturday) or late night(1999 and 2000 for sure)
1995 is the only year I know for sure they missed a few weeks.

Yes. There was no Raw episode on the weeks it was pre-empted by the dog show or US Open tennis until September 1996 when they started airing Raw on a different night those weeks instead of having no show at all.
And based on a clip from "WWF Action Zone" on YouTube I saw a few months ago, the United Kingdom got a special "Best of In Your House" episode of Raw in February 1996 when there was no actual episode due to the dog show. That special never aired in the US.

There was a bunch of times in the early years where it would be either preempted by the dog show or US Open or it was replaced by a Sunday night special going into a pay per view like March to Wrestlemana, Summerslam Spectacular, or Survivor Series Showdown (they even had "Countdown or Coroning" for King of the Ring 1994). However, those were usually shown as a 1 hour highlight special the next night in Raw's timeslot. I'm not sure if those count or not in Raws episode count.

This thread made me realize Raw has technically aired 5 different days a week.
Monday, obviously On the east coast, Raw late night went past midnight, making it air on Tuesday. Thursday Raw Thursday in early 1997. Friday Nights Main Event in late 1997. Raw Saturday Night in 1998

Wasn't Raw not shown one week in the 90s (due to either the Westminster dog club or the US open) and instead of Raw they aired "The Main Event" on the Friday of that week.

As was said, Westminster Dog Show in mid-February and 2 weeks of the US Open in late-August/early-September. Then the Monday Night Wars lit up a light bulb over their heads, because usually they had a PPV to plug for the following Sunday. So they aired it later in the week. (Thursday Raw Thursday is a good example. They had a PPV the following Sunday. I also remember a Championship Raw Saturday or something to that effect one week.)
I never minded the US Open airing, I'd watch that. But a lot of mid-February Mondays have been ruined because "that damn dog show is on". Then my mom would ooh and aah, she would give it a look.
