So, yeah, how much does bad grammar bother you?
If I see a small problem, like a person using "it's" when it should be "its", it's a minor annoyance but it doesn't bother me a lot. However, if the entire post is so bad that it sets back all of the progress the English language has made, that's when it seriously annoys me.
I'm also really picky about my own grammar, as I try to make it as perfect as I can. It doesn't always work, but I try to get it as close to perfect as I possibly can.
FAN, how much does bad grammar, be it yours of that of other people, bother you?

Depends.
When I'm listening to it, I can be more relaxed about it. If it's writing, then I'd say I'm still a bit lax about bad grammar, but when it becomes glaringly obvious I suppose I have to exert some more patience to the mistakes and errors and whatnot.

I have certain grammatical pet peeves that make me want to slap people upside the head.

Usually I'm pretty indifferent to it. The one situation that really irritates me is if someone writes something that is supposed to put down another person's viewpoint, like something political on facebook or dumb like that, and it's filled with errors. That just makes you look like a huge douchebag imo.

I must say, even though bad grammar on message boards or what have you can be irritating, nothing angers me more than when a company puts something out with grammatical errors. I can't remember what it was, but a couple weeks back I saw a commercial for something, and the company was using "it's" where it should have been "its". I also saw a website last week, albeit for a local business, that used "your" instead of "you're". If it's one thing that makes you look instantly unprofessional, it's grammatical errors. EDIT - simplydurhamcalling got in my thoughts before I could.

I don't mind it, I do wonder why people make mistakes but it happens. I hate though when somebody, usually on Facebook, corrects your spelling by doing this....

I'm another one that doesn't mind it on things like forums (mostly because mine is terrible too) but hate seeing it things that were meant to have been produced by professionals.

I'm an English major. I'll just leave it at that. It pretty much takes me minutes to send a text message because I refuse to use any sort of textspeak outside of @ for "at".

I keep getting messages from a friend's daughter on facebook that has grammar and spelling so bad, that I have to read them 4 or 5 times to figure out what she is trying to say. "Jhut got back from cing mi mhan in gaol" Was the last one I got from her. And sadly I know she graduated high school.

Not as much compared to the people complain about it. It does bug me when I read the news or paper but that's about it. And I guess when I receive a email or text where I can barely read the words or comprehend in what they are trying to say. It also bugs me when people type or text shortcuts like ur instead of you're or u instead of you. Like come on people!!! We don't use flip phones anymore, you have no execuse even though T9word is still the fastest way of texting!!!

I edit ESL student papers for a living, among other things. Honestly, English grammar annoys me to the point where I don't care about it anymore. If it has to be fixed, fix it. If it doesn't, I don't care. Grammar rules feel arbitrary after a while.
As it is, there are several rules that no one uses anyway. We use Strunk and White's The Elements of Style for composition except when we blatantly don't. By their rules, we should write plural possession like this: Wrestlers's autographs but we delete the second S 99.9% of the time. Word marks it as being incorrect despite following every other rule set down by Strunk and White to the letter. So, in the end, we just use what we are used to on an arbitrary basis and pass that of as being correct.

It doesn't bother me too much as long as I can read it. Although, I really hate when people insert random capitals in the middle of a sentence for no apparent reason. Also, lack of commas and question marks. Uh, but apart from that, it doesn't bother me.
