I have always had DSL... nothing fancy but it got the job done. DSL was shut off due to lack of a payment, i called to get it turned back on and told my only option as this point because dsl was dying out was to switch to UVERSE.....So I did and I HATE IT! Im suppouse to get double the connection speed I had with basic DSL, which I dont...and the worst part, you cannot watch ANY youtube video, withouth it buffering every 10 f***ing seconds. I could watch vids on youtube all day with DSL and only occasionally would it buffer, now with UVERSE I put it to the lowest quality and its just ridiculous. They force you to pay 10 dollars more a month and swear this service is so much faster and better, but when u cant even watch a youtube video withouth buffering every 5 seconds something is wrong. SO annoyed, any1 else ever had this problem?

DSL is evil, and evil is something that's negative and shouldn't be talked upon on these forums

A similar thing happened to me. I finally had a DSL modem that was fast and giving me no trouble, then a freak accident happened and it was destroyed. I call up Verizon and I was told they would give me a new modem, "3 times faster" than what I had. It turned out to be 3 times slower. Sometimes when I'm downloading something the speed is 60kbytes/s. WTF! High Speed Internet Enhanced my ass.

Finally told the guy he was either rewiring my house or they were canceling my contract, and they ending up changing something at the main terminal which made a bit of difference. I then tried the modem that I thought stopped working and got better speeds than I thought possible with them. Anyway, long story short, yeah, f*** Verizon.

I went through the same thing because I kept hitting my monthly DSL datacap. We don't have cable, so everything is streaming. That along with gaming and downloads would cap it quick. My apartment is locked into some contract with AT&T so I'm stuck with UVerse now. The equipment is garbage and rarely works right. My initial installation took techs over 7 hours to plug in a damn box and configure settings. I also had to bitch so I wasn't charged $150 for the UVerse modem and $50 for an installation fee. For an existing customer. AT&T also changed some stuff on my account and basically made one of my Roku boxes worthless. And, yeah, YouTube is f***ing USELESS now -- and I get (almost) the speed I'm supposed to.
If you have any other kind of option, run toward it with open arms.

I've got U-verse, and I do have faster speeds than when I had DSL from ATT.

In fact, I'll do you one better: I had U-Verse for quite a while, but it wasn't affordable (it can be quite expensive). Since switching to Comcast, my internet connection has been so unreliable it isn't even funny. Sometimes it's slow, sometimes it dies altogether and I have to either reset it or reboot it. Effing hate Comcast.

As I work for a VOIP provider (among other things), I can tell you that their modems are designed specifically to block third party VOIPs, this has been a problem.

I have U-verse internet as well. The only issue I have is Youtube on the PS3 being slow. But my other option is Charter and I they are horrible at customer service. Which is why I refuse to do business with them. Because they keep jacking up my bill unless I call to complain about it ever six months which there is no reason too. They have no showed me to install something. When they did show up for at the time I was getting net and phone, they only did one but not the other. Telling me "oh, another guy comes to do the phone." Yeah after getting no showed. Then having to waste three days. I was done once that bill went up like it did. Do damn near 200 a month for Internet and PHONE? After wasting three days of my time for that crap I was done.

I've had Uverse dsl since... October 2010, I think? Most of the time, I works like a dream... test speeds regularly at 13-15 mbs down, and usually 2 mbs up. However, sometimes it gets inexplicably horrible... usually nothing that isn't fixed by the usual tricks (unplug router, re-establish connection on pc or device, etc).

My biggest complaint about UVerse so far? Every 30 days, give or take, my wifi goes down for most of the day. Would not be so bad except AT&T also coves my phone line and smart phone so no cell to cell calls, no home phone, no Internet, nothing.
Irritating, to say the least.

I have heard other people talking about the same problem. But mine has only went down for 10 minutes one time in the year I have had it. But then I also only have the internet through U-verse. Got a land line and Dish Network.
