Hader was the best thing running on the show. It's gonna take a major hit without him.

So they're losing Hader, Meyers and almost certainly Sudeikis.
Armisen has been there eleven years and Kenan for ten.
They need new people badly.

Whenever I do watch something SNL related nowadays, I always hope he's in it beforehand - because his stuff is rather good. I'm curious to see what he does from here He's apparently in talks to join a new indy comedy called LAWLESS, from the guys who wrote Jim Carrey's YES MAN. That's coming up in the news searches today along with this news.

Good, he and Jason Sudeikis should've left long ago. Not saying I don't like them, I'm just saying they both kinda hung around too long.

Saturday Night Dead.
But seriously, I think SNL is really weak right now.

I approach SNL the same way I do the WWE, if the old timer main eventers don't step out of the way, how are the lower card guys ever gonna get a shot at carrying the brand? Off the top of my head I can name at least five SNL cast members that have potential to be some of the best ever that damn near constantly get over looked because for some reason people insist that Hader, Sudeikis, and Armisen are the only funny cast members. I nearly shit myself at what I'm fairly certain is the first time I've seen Jay Pharaoh referenced on this board and that guy is funnier than 90% of the current cast, the three I listed before included.

IIRC, not even 20 years ago the longest anyone had ever stayed was 8 or 9 years. That was Kevin Nealon. Darrell Hammond *I think* has the record for longest - 14 seasons.
So it's amazing that currently there are 4 people who've been there 8-10 years.

Bill Murray said something to that effect, that people used to leave much earlier to do other things.
Bill Hader will be fine. He's had a lot of acting roles, and quite a few writing roles outside of the show, so it's not like he's not out there already.

Well, in the past, there would be a huge cast-dumping and a whole new cast would come in.
Once when Lorne and the originals left, then again when Lorne came back (and most of that cast didn't make it past the season). Then in 94-96 there was another one. For whatever reason, they don't feel the need to drop everybody and start fresh anymore.

I'm a fan of Bill Hader, but mostly from his work in Seth Rogen comedies.

Even though I don't watch it anymore, I haven't heard tales of horror like I have of those other seasons...

With Hader gone I officially have no more reasons to watch SNL. Except for Sudeikis, but I'm expecting him to leave soon.
