I've read a while back that the Berserker (John Nord) actually acted as a cover for Nailz when he attacked Vince back in 1992. Rick Steiner mentioned it in an interview once - he and Scott had just started with the WWF when it happened - and I thought Bret might've mentioned it in his book too.
So how in the hell did he not get blackballed from the business too? He had a run with WCW (oddly successful too - lowcarder eith few losses) years later, when Nailz had been ex-communicated from the business, and IIRC still works indy shows here and there...

He got int WCW because Eric Bischoff loved having the guy that beat up Vince McMahon on the roster.
As far as indies go, some promoters will do anything to make a buck.

Must not have been considered that big of a deal. He was in the Royal Rumble a month later.

it's not like the Berzerker lasted much longer in the company anyway.

I think Nailz actually lasted in wrestling a lot longer than people realise. Having disappeared from the WWF he turned up in WCW as well as a couple of the short-lived mid '90s promotions (including the dreadful AWF) and toured with New Japan. I think rather than being blackballed he just wasn't really very good, drifted away from mainstream wrestling and quietly retired.

Yeah, and I think he only stopped working in WCW because the WWF threatened legal action since "The Convict" gimmick was too close to Nailz. Nailz was only blackballed from the WWF. And aside from the incident where he assaulted Vince over his Summerslam '92 pay-out, there's also the way he testified against McMahon in the federal steroids trial.

he's not asking about Nailz, he's asking about the Berserker. Personally I never heard of that happening.

Here's a MSPaint pic I did of it earlier this year for reference; Truth be told, there's conflicting reports on what actually went down. Some reports say it was the lockerroom, as well as another that said the Steiners were present and such. Perhaps Vince didn't hold it against Nord since he wasn't the one who got physical with him (since the Nailz thing happened over the course of several minutes, eventually leading to violence), plus Nord may not have even known what Nailz was going to do, except he wanted to make sure that Vince didn't just brush him off onto the agents since that was the tendency he had when it came to paydays.

I think both guys are Minnesota and/or AWA guys so there may have been a brotherhood there and like the previous poster suggested maybe Nord was around to make sure Vince actually spoke with Nailz himself.
I don't think Nord had malicious thoughts, anyone who can tell the silly Dusty Rhodes "muffla" story can't be that bad of a person.
He didn't last much longer after Royal Rumble but mostly because he just never went anywhere with the character. Unlike the 80s where characters seemed to stay a heck of a long time it seemed like early 90s guys didn't last too long.
Nailz has never done an autograph signing convention though I think he's been contacted and when promoters are asked their response is basically like "it will never happen" which seems to suggest he is dead set against it. So perhaps things are more of he doesn't want to do business. At the same time company promoters will do business if someone can make them money. There probably is no money to be made with Nailz. Only money to be made on him was when his Hasbro figure was very hard to find and the figure catalog companies charged more than most of the figures. Now with ebay it doesn't go for much. I bet if Vince figured he could make money he would have him back for something. If he thought a hardcore match with Nailz could make money he would do it.

On Berserker, I think I remember he claimed he didn't know that Nailz was going to attack Vince, he just thought Nailz was going to shake Vince down for some cash that he felt he was owed so he didn't get much of the blame.

Vince must not hate him too much as he didn't stop Jakks from making a Classic Superstars figure of him.

I don't think neither Vince nor anyone else in the business holds Nord as responsible for what happened to him as Nailz. I think Vince probably though, like what was stated earlier, that Nord probably didn't have any idea Nailz would actually go in there and physically assault Vince rather than just give him the what for in regards to money.

On unrealted note, did Nailz do anything in the ring other than chokeholds?
