I know theres some REAL wrestlers on the forums here...
Do people in your feds (real ones here guys, not talking about your friends backyard wrestling matress federations) look down at all if you dont wear like the standard kinda gear?
Like would they look down at you for wearing say a muscle shirt and pants rather then some tights or the kinda thing Angle (and alot of other indie wrestlers) wear?

No. Pretty much whatever you want to wear is fine. There isn't a wrestling fashion police.
I'd much rather wear boots than tennis shoes or amateur shoes because you can move around easier and they are just more comfortable.
And I don't know how you'd wrestle in jeans or something to that nature. I'd just find it uncomfortable. I'd never wear a shirt though. It's way too easy to get your hands caught up in it. You could break someone's wrist really easily.
But it's all up to you man.

Well the pants I usually wear (UFO Pants) are really comfortable and I really think they would work in the ring...

I'm sure if you think they are comfortable and not getting in the way at all (not too many crazy straps or something) then they should work fine, you should probably ask your trainer first. Also I wouldn't recommend laying out exactly what you want to wear right away. Because during training you'll learn what you are gonna want to wear (kneepads and stuff like that)
Are you about to start training or something?

Just do yourself a favor and buy yourself a pair of real wrestling boots. I CAN'T STAND the rookies who come in there wearing gym shoes or Addidas wrestling shoes, this isn't high school wrestling so leave those at home cause you'll get lit up for sure. Heavy ass construction boots are not a good idea either cause they can hurt and you can't move around that well in them. I tried doing drills with a bum wearing those and he couldn't even run the ropes and when he went for a vertical leap those boots almost hit me in the face and that would not have been good. Also invest in elbow and knee pads that are comfortable, you'll thank yourself later for getting them.
As for clothing? Depends on your gimmick. As the others say when you do train wear what you are going to wear when you actually work a match, that way you can figure out if you can move in the clothing and how it feels when you sweat your ass off. You don't want to wear work out clothing during practice and then wear different gear in the ring and find out you can't do the same things.
And my last thing, don't be a cookie cutter indy worker wearing a stupid ass muscle shirt and regular pants or sweats. And I'll put this in caps. DO NOT WEAR CAMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I once was on a card that had no less than SIX workers wearing camo! It's been done to death!!!!!! This is your chance to be something and someone else. Have fun with your gimmick. Don't go in wanting to be look like Stone Cold or The Rock or Shawn Michaels. Be original cause in wrestling you can be.

Depends on your gimmick, really. Not everyone can afford the 'standards', but you really should get yourself some cushioned kneepads at least, and not the kind that are going to hurt someone if you knee them.

There was a heated debate on a local message board here about this.
Depending on your gimmick, your attire needs to be professional.
This is what is supposed to separate you from the fans in the crowd.
Why should they give to rips about you if you look like you just came from the seat next to them?
But yes, at the very least get some frikkin boots. I can't tell you how much it pisses me off to see guys wearing sneakers to the ring.

(invading thread, on the grounds that my church hall fed had a real ring)
Good advice here, wear real professional wrestling boots (cost $ but worth it) and avoid denim, flannel, or other heavy material easy to get tangled in.

I am not a wrestler or even in training to become one, but I must say, this is one of the most interesting threads I've seen in a while. It's pretty cool learning about the things you need to think about to get a head start. I hope all of you do well in your quest to be the best, and it's nice of you to share your input with others. Good luck, guys.

Well what I would want to wear if I wrestled is like a plain black muscle shirt... ...and pants like these: us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/villagestreetwear_1908_94715312^They are comfortable and you can adjust them on the bottom so you dont run the risk of them going over your boots... And of course I would wanna wear elbow and knee pads and gloves...

I want to go to wrestling school in the next year or two. If I were to pick an outfit it would likely be black gym shorts with black pinstrip boxers underneather and some of those boots with the shin padding. I'd most likely wear the knee and elbow pads as well and maybe some lifting gloves.
EDIT: Of course my outfit would have to have some kind of symbol on it.

there are several people that i have seen wearing those pants, they are ok I guess, not my type of thing but if you see more than one person wearing them where you are gonna train then find something else unless you two are in a tag team.

What the hell are UFO's? They sound like Alien pants They are baggy cargo pants with cords and such. Some have bell bottoms so large you could hide a family of gypsies in them. Depending on who they are on, they are fairly ridiculous looking. I kind of thought the paintball pants made by Empire would make for a neat in-ring look.
