Speaking of, anyone want to hazard a guess when Punk will finally make his Octagon debut? Could they be saving him for the UFC 200 undercard?

Nick Diaz given a FIVE-YEAR suspension by the NAC for weed. Unreal.

Given he's failed the test 3 times, run from it once, acted like the biggest crybaby in the world, he could have gotten the lifetime ban and I'd have been a happy camper.

Five years for weed, a substance that is legal in more than a few states now and is anything but performance enhancing is absurd. Being suspended for repeat offender status and his DUI, sure I get it, but the substance matters. Diaz did himself no favors by not testifying himself, but a terrible punishment espc since Silva only got a year for f***ing steroids.
I'll wager pretty heavily this suspension gets lowered on appeal. The sentence really feels heavy due to how they tried to defend it. Lundvall actually recommended LIFETIME for weed lol. Just keep in mind CSAC suspends repeat offenders 90 days for weed! FOR WEED.

If that was anyone else, even 3rd offense wouldn't be 5 years. They're out to get Diaz, that's obvious as hell. They'll fight it, it'll get lowered.

Suffice to say that the majority of opinions I've seen so far on Twitter are negative towards the ruling.

It's shameful really because they are doing nothing to hide their shame they are after him. Even the biggest Diaz haters saying this is BS. He's getting a five year ban for a 3rd offense granted, but if i'm not mistaken the drug isn't banned out of competition either. Chael only got a two year ban and he had that on PED.

It's because they had the nerve to challenge the NSAC. I haven't seen the hearing, but from everything I read Diaz's lawyer had some very good arguments regarding the quality of testing, the fact that 2 other test from around the same time came back clean and the NSAC was basically like "don't f***in' care, you're guilty!"

Yea, that's the worst part of it. There is no definitive proof that Diaz had it in his system fight day and at that his team has a solid defense in the court of law and it's basically like "na, don't want to hear it." The word initially was Diaz did himself no favors by speaking but new word is coming out that they wanted to talk but they weren't willing to listen and just wanted to abuse their power.

I don't feel sorry for Diaz, it was his third offense, he's a grown up, he needs to be held accountable for his actions, he also had a DUI he could've killed somebody, he also got in a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas.
That being said, legally he can appeal and win. His lawyers can argue that the chain of custody regarding his samples got badly handled, the commission didn't explained why one of his samples from one lab tested negative while the other tested positive, they can say that the commission violated due process by humiliating him when he plead the 5th time and time again.
He will get reinstated, but he will f*** up again and test positive for a fourth time in the future.

The thing that has bothered me most is that people defending Diaz either forget or choose to forget that he's a multiple offender. Clearly all the suspensions and fines have done nothing to smarten him up. Diaz has to be accountable for these failures and like it's been mentioned, it's not just the pot. It's the brawls, it's the DUI, the guy is a liability and personally, he;s not that exciting of a fighter anymore. His fights since returning to the UFC have been dull as dirt. The worst thing is that people acting like this just encourages his stupid behavior. He feels vindicated acting the way he does because fans, teammates, coaches, fighters, reporters, and promoters bend over backwards to please him whenever he complains about something. He skips out on every media responsibility after being given a title fight against GSP, still gets the interim title fight. Loses the interim title fight and gets suspended for pot. Whines the entire time and gets a title shot without doing anything to earn it. This is a situation I think where people are confusing rebel with idiot man child who refuses to grow up.

Paige Van Zant will headline the 12/10 FightPass-exclusive Fight Night against Joanne Calderwood, while Jim Miller vs. Michael Chiesa is co-main.

So the word is Jon Jones might get a plea deal. For all intent and purposes he won't see jail time and should be back in UFC sooner than later. Do you think UFC should give him more of a punishment or has he been properly disciplined?

Do you think UFC should give him more of a punishment or has he been properly disciplined? Considering that UFC needs as much star power as they can get their hands on and the way they talk about Jones' situation, his "punishment" would be having one or two fights before they can claim that he's a "changed man that learned from his mistakes" and get a title shot

Whoever wins this next fight will fight Jones if we are to believe he will get off with a plea deal. It's funny Dana tried his damn hardest to protect Jones when ever he messed up but with this Nick Diaz situation he needs to know all the facts before he speaks in regards to the five year suspension.
