Was skimming through the article on biggest patriotic moments on WWE's site, when I noticed something interesting. They mentioned Hogan saving Eugene at Wrestlemania 21 and what a patriotic moment it was...yet they never mentioned Muhammad Hassan and Daivari. They only referred to Eugene's "antagonists", which actually made it confusing as to what made Hogan's actions so patriotic.
Is this a new thing? Granted, there aren't that many huge Hassan moments out there but have they quietly excised him from history as well?

Hmmmm. Well, the original reason for his release was because UPN had asked for WWE to remove him from their programming, so perhaps they've bowed to pressure from another outside source.

So Hogan saved Eugene from Crash Holly. Itself a surprise appearance, due to the man having been dead for 2 years.

Then is suspect that the tape with his match against Chris Benoit from 2005 has been burned.

Given the spectacular car crash that was them airing the terrorist bit on the same day London got bus-bombed, I wouldnt be surprised if the WWE went all hush-hush on that one.

I wasn't thinking the 7/7 attacks as I think he's been mentioned since but with the attack in London this past week and Boston bombings, I was thinking they thought it best to not acknowledge they had a character that went terrorist.

Man, i always felt bad for that guy. Talk about getting a gimmick you can't come back from. I thought he was incredibly effective in that role. TNA had Daivari kind of play Hassan's gimmick but he wasnt nearly as good.

Creative turns him into a ridiculous terrorist and Hassan gets the ax, makes perfect sense to me.
If Sgt. Slaughter could turn face from being an Iraqi sympathizer Hassan could have done the same. Has there even ever been a face Arab character?

Hassan was decent enough at what he did, but it was a bad gimmick and a silly idea. The original angle, with Hassan being an Arab-American and being pissed at the racism he faced was WAY too nuanced to get over in a logical way, so they decided to just go totally offensive with it and he started wearing a turban and stuff (which doesn't even make any sense).
I get why they decided to try to get some mileage out of a new foreign heel, it's been a wrestling tradition for better or for worse for a long, long time. It was a bad idea to start, and then it got trashy pretty quickly. I know discretion with that kind of stuff hasn't historically been one of WWE's strongest characteristics, but I really don't blame them for wanting to avoid mentioning it when possible.

Has there even ever been a face Arab character? Also on the list, they list a Slaughter vs Sheik/Adnan handicap flag match with only a brief mention of Sarge's "soul-searching" but no mention of "bringing the WWF Title back to Saddam Hussein".

If everyone removed terrorists from their programming due to real terrorist acts, 75% of today's drama shows would be off the air.

I wish I could erase him from my memory. He was a bland wrestler and terribly forced on the mic. Hated him. I loved Daivari, though.

When it came to the gimmick itself there was only so much he could of done. I'm sure it would of got old by 2006 and the guy was mediocre in the ring IMO. I always remember him being entertaining on the mic and how they had him rant as this old man but realistically once he was released I think they erased him then.

It was a complex gimmick out the gate. He was basically right about a lot of what he said but said it with a great deal of hatred. Then he just turned into a terrorist whos finisher looked like he cut peoples heads off.
