But also on the bright side its highly unlikely that Rampage will get knocked out by a wimpy looking spinning backfist and screw up whatever plans TNA have for him.

Their MMA fans didn't follow them. They simply gained pro wrestling fans. I disagree. Especially in the case of Mike Tyson. I agree with you on Tyson but Lesnar just brought back fans from his past WWE run, IMO. He brought back fans that left because of the exodus of guys like him, Austin, Goldberg, Rock and others. Shamrock, I don't know.

But as much as he is well known, how many of those people have any interest in watching him pretend to fight? Especially when he is still actually fighting for real. Saying that, I think he has the potential to be very entertaining. As has been shown with Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock, and even Mike Tyson, a lot of people don't seem to have any problem seeing some of these guys pretend to fight. But those people are wrestling fans. For wrestling fans, I think he's a great signing if he turns up with any regularity. He's fresh, legitimately tough with a good look and a big mouth. If he's booked in a way that covers up the fact he isn't a trained wrestler, TNA fans will love him. I just don't see who the people are who don't watch pro-wrestling but would be willing to watch Rampage have a go at it, especially when he's still an active MMA fighter. You'd have to be a huge fan of someone to be willing to watch a completely different form of entertainment just because they're involved. Yeah he's well known and he's cool and all, but he's not someone who inspires that kind of devotion or interest from people. By way of (completely unscientific, I know) comparison, he has a comparable number of Twitter followers to Justin Gabriel. Anyway, I don't mean to sound like I'm being negative about Rampage or TNA. As was discussed at length over a dozen pages or so, no-one TNA could get will significantly alter their ratings/buyrates. The best they can hope for is to entertain the viewers they do have, and in that respect I think Rampage is a good addition.

This might have been cool when he was still relevant.

Some of the posts in here are reminding me of why I don't post too often in this board anymore. Literally anything the company does is followed by posts like "LOLTNA SO DUMB AMIRITE!" and "WE WANT TO SEE THEM SUCCEDD BUT THEY DO DUMB STUFF AMIRITE!"
It gets damn old, but considering I've been reading this board since late '06 and it's been those same posts over and over again, I doubt it'll change. The one good thing is that there's more positive words than there used to be, but there's still those posts that just totally ruin your mood over something you actually think is a good idea. Think the company has a good signing? Let the FANs tell you why you're wrong. Think that episode of Impact was good? Let FAN nitpick it and tear it apart. Like Hulk Hogan and his presence within the company? Let FAN tell you why Hogan sucks.
Just a rant. As you were.

Being that Rampage has always been one of the only MMA personalities that ever interested me and I've always wanted to see how he'd work in a pro wrestling setting I'm excited for this news.

I'm really excited for this. In a year, he'll be really fun in wrestling.
Hell, a Rampage-Joe feud just seems like money.

Everyone has been all for WWE signing Rampage for like 3-4 years if not longer. He signs with TNA and suddenly it's a dumb move? I like this board but c'mon guys it isn't a bad signing at all and I totally agree that it's better than the other alternatives (Lashley, Hennigan etc)
I would of preferred it to be a surprise and just have Rampage walk out on Impact this week and knock someone out and have the announcers go crazy about it but all in all a very good signing with more mainstream exposure than the alternatives.
As for what he'll do. I could see him working a low card match at BFG maybe against Knux or something. You could have the whole angle of Aces and Eights freaking out because Knux doesn't do Martial Arts and Rampage doing promos.
The reality show in the lead up to his Bellator/TNA Debut will be a hit also and nothing but good exposure for TNA. The people who think this is a bad signing need to re-think it because unless TNA is paying massive money it's a good move.

If Rampage can do something that neither Lashley nor King Mo have done and actually bring over MMA fans, then it's a good thing. If he's going to put MMA over TNA and flake out at the first opportunity, it's a waste of time on TNA's part.

Seriously though, this is a good move for TNA. Hopefully things go right for this situation (Rampage doesn't get injured, no one backs out, Rampage is actually good in Bellator and in-ring in TNA). Hopefully TNA, Rampage, and Spike hype the heck out of this! The match I really want to see is Kurt Angle vs. Rampage. Samoa Joe vs. Rampage could be good, too!

I'm the first one to dress down TNA for doing something stupid, but this isn't a terrible move at all.
He's got the skillset to wrestle, so it won't be a total debacle. Plus the guy's a beast so as long as he doesn't legit injure anyone it seems pretty win-win.
A rare "big announcement" TNA thing that actually comes through.

Seriously, people. This is the THIRD time they're trying this. What the hell is it gonna take for them to realize that this is just a stupid concept? Really finding myself baffled by anyone who thinks this is a bad signing. King Mo being hired is a completely different animal to Rampage Jackson. I don't pay much mind to MMA but I know who Rampage Jackson is, not to completely write him off, because you never know, but King Mo wasn't exactly a name that would have people turn their heads who didn't already know who he is. Anyone who doesn`t think this is at the very least, a really interesting signing has fallen so far down the hill of battering TNA for every decision they make (justifiably a lot of the time) that it's become routine. I'm very curious to see how this goes. How do they break him in? Seems weird to send a guy of his stature to OVW, would take a lot of discipline to hold off on bringing him on TV until he's ready, yet it would be really tough not to capitalize on the news of his signing. This is really cool news to me.

I'm not going to speak for the crowd on this one, but I'm going mild for this one. Sure, Rampage Jackson has some name recognition, but I was under the impression that his name has had better times in the MMA world. He also has little pro wrestling training, so TNA is going to have to invest some time into training him how to perform while splitting him with his Bellator commitments.
I guess it at least somewhat lives up to the hype because of his name value, but I would have rather it been Hennigan or Benjamin or MVP, because while those guys would have been laughable for the hype, at least I know what they could bring to the table and can do so at this moment.
