Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't one of the problems with King Mo been that he has complained about wrestling training? I seem to remember an article where he kind of whined about it being hard.
If Rampage actually does stuff, it's a good hire. But Rampage signing a wrestling contract reminds me of how years ago the hot story was how everybody wanted to sign Tito Ortiz

Holy crap. We posted the same thing within minutes of each other. You two minutes earlier, but I spent more than two minutes looking for that image, so I couldn't have known. We're like, psychic friends now. We need a network. And Dionne Warwick.

I only know who Rampage Jackson is because of his Raw appearance.
I think people in this thread are overhyping how popular this guy is outside of MMA.

It's hard for him to train for pro wrestling when his Bellator commitments come first. Rampage may or may not pick it up quick but we won't know because Bellator has first dibs and it will probably be half a year before he even steps into a OVW ring for a match.

So is the WWE gonna reply by trying to sign Kimbo Slice?
Because that's one career that went down the toilet WAAAAAY faster than anyone thought it would.

I agree lets make this psychic friends network off the ground. As for the topic... Meh. Never been an mma fan I cant see him bringing in many more fans to TNA as the mma fans aren't going to watch him "fake" fight especially as his still doing "real" stuff with bellator. Which means he's not going to have the time to fully dedicate to wrestling training when he has a fight. On the other hand this sounds like spike is footing the bill and if that's the case TNA get some publicity for little investment.

The best shot the WWE had at getting 'real' fighters over was Ken Shamrock. Look at how he did in his WWE career, which was pretty damn good for what it was, and that's generally as high as a 'legit' fighter is gonna get in pro wrestling. And no, I don't count Brock Lesnar. He went into MMA AFTER he went through WWE. But seriously, have Miss Cleo call me now for jah free reedun.

Actually I think most people knew that EliteXC screwed up royally pretty much banking their future on Kimbo even before the Petruzelli (though that killed his career dead). When Slice fought an actual fighter in James Thompson, he looked pretty bad and won in a very controversial way that made people turn against him.

Was that the one where he only one by going after the guy's cauliflowered ear, and looked infinitely more tired than the guy he beat? Or the night he fought someone who was a last-minute replacement for the guy he was supposed to fight, and that guy beat the crap out of him?

Petruzelli is the one that replaced Ken Shamrock and beat Kimbo in a few seconds. Many say Kimbo getting destroyed like that led to EliteXC filing bankruptcy. Petruzelli also said he was paid extra to not try to take Kimbo down and instead only throw punches (and one punch knocked Kimbo down). What's funny is Petruzelli was EliteXC's 3rd choice to place Ken Shamrock behind Frank (who Kimbo and his people absolutely refused to fight) and Aron Rosa Thompson is the one where he cauliflowered the ear, and when the ref stopped the fight Kimbo looked ready to pass out while Thompson and the crowd looked pissed off and confused.

It all sounds so bullshit and worked, I find it hard to believe that any of it is "real". I watched the Kimbo/Petruzelli fight and Kimbo definitely went down deliberately, he just stood there and took shit and then it was done. MMA or at least most of it, isn't real fighting in the slightest, it's just the same as wrestling but presented differently in my opinion.

I've never seen any proof that it isn't predetermined and I've seen a hell of a lot of dives and crummy finishes which lead me to believe that it's a work just like wrestling. I've also seen videos where a fighter has called a spot on camera before going for the finish, I'll see if I can hunt it down.

Big dude gets famous fighting nobodies half his size, it's not all that much of a shock when he gets shown up by people with actual training (one of which was still half his size). Why they signed him in the first place is beyond me.

Not sure if it's been mentioned so far, but he's going to appear on Impact tomorrow for the first time. I'm listening in on a conference call with him, Dixie, and all, and it's pretty bizarre to hear his voice coming out of my phone.

Why would they sign a bum like that when they have the most well known UFC fighter ever already on the roster? To be fair there isnt really any proof that MMA isnt predetermined either besides taking their word for it like people used to with wrestling.

Predetermined or not is arguable but it's 100% rigged in some cases due to betting.
