Right up there with Star Wars for the Best Orchestral Soundtrack of all Time.
Seriously, you listen to that and it just FEELS like an archeologist trying to save the world from the nazis.

The first one was good, the second one was AWESOME, the third one was amazing, and the fourth one sucked my gigantic alien testicles.

Screw the haters. Crystal Skull was a great romp. Especially compared to Temple of Doom.

Temple of Doom was great. I don't care what anyone says. It certainly isn't better than Raiders, but it's probably my second favorite. Last Crusade was also really good, although they toned down the violence big time (still, ironically PG-13 compared to the others) but overall a great way to cap off the series.
Crystal Skulls was bland and boring. The nuking of the fridge didn't bother me nearly as much as having a sword fight on top of a moving truck for seemingly no reason, or driving off a cliff because there was a tree there that you know was going to break your fall and send you right back up, with no injuries. Sure, ToD had it's share of problems, but at least the characters didn't act like complete lunatics when it came to doing the impossible.
It's too bad Skulls is included in this collection. I can't wait for the 5th movie either, where the Jones' family goes on more adventures together, maybe this time bringing along the family dog and cat, who also get in crazy misadventures!

Karen Allen moved Crystal Skull from being crap to serviceable. She's got a presence I really can't describe.

Raiders will always have a special place in my heart. When I was a child a new movie theater opened in the town that I grew up in and for their opening they showed older films. I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark with my family and its still one of my all time favorites.
Temple of Doom was good. I loved the opening scene and wish they made an indy movie set in China.
Crusade was awesome and my second favorite.
I don't take Chrystal Skull too serious and really enjoy some parts of it. The only thing I hate about the movie is the character Mac. The switching sides gimmick got old fast and annoyed me more than Mutt.

Short Round and the female lead make Temple of Doom below the others except Crystal Skull in my opinion. As soon as I saw the crystal skull I had a thought of what it could be.....imagine how let down I was when my hunch was right.

The only thing I hate about the movie is the character Mac. The switching sides gimmick got old fast and annoyed me more than Mutt. Exactly. I HATED his character. Young Indy would have killed Mac in the first 15 minutes. Mutt was actually a fine character compared to the rest of Indy's entourage. John Hurt's character was stupid. Marion lacked any reason to be there outside of tying the characters together. I expect the next movie where he's dragging around another 2 or 3 extra characters.

Mac is one of the most useless characters I've ever seen in a mainstream film. Not only is his role in the plot fairly thin (change his betrayals to the Soviets getting the drop on Indy and the film barely changes) even thematically he doesn't serve any purpose like Elsa embodying the dark side of the grail obsession or Belloq as the greedy self serving version of Indy.

Exactly. I'll go so far as to say everyone with the exception of Mutt weren't needed. Hell, when they're just by themselves, it worked great. Marion didn't even need to be involved at all, outside of maybe showing up at the end. People give shit to Temple of Doom for Willie and Short Round, but hell at least Willie had a character and went through some kind of arc as well. She wasn't my favorite character, but the complete contrast in story and look compared to Raiders is why I think Temple of Doom is underrated. Last Crusade had the same elements as Raiders; religious relic, Nazis, Sallah and Brody, which was fine. Skulls tried for the same thing, and it didn't work, especially when it came to giving them action to do, Indy wasn't the focal point that the other movies made him out to be and when all the action is based on silly CGI stunts, then it's hard for me to care.

Its funny, my only real problem with Mutt is they wait so long to say he's Indy's kid. If you have Indy's son there, reveal it in the first act as a big hook for the audience now curious as to where this relationship will go. If you want Mutt as a general sidekick character, then just go full blown with that. Doing the reveal of his son with no real change in dynamic other than some lines by Indy that he needs to go back to school just seems awkward.

Well, the dog IS named Indiana after all. However, IF they make a fifth one, i dont think Mutt will be in it, as i heard Shia is leaving mainstream movies.

Yeah, they didn't need him to be his son, it was basically their "Get Out of Jail" card in case they ever wanted to keep the franchise alive with someone else. To that I say, just recast Harrison Ford. Look, no one is ever probably going to top him, but you can keep things moving forward in the same vein of James Bond. But yes, no real problems with Mutt, outside of the swinging of the vines and the sword fight on top of a truck. You know, things that only a lunatic would do.

For anyone in the Seattle area. Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue will be showing Raiders of the Lost Ark at 2pm Sunday June 9th and at 2pm and 7pm on Wednesday June 12th.
They have been showing classic movies for the last couple of months. This month is Steven Spielberg month with Jaws, Raiders, ET and Schindler's List.

The fourth one was unnecessary and was rubbish.
The first and third movies are perfection
The second one is average.

Temple Of doom never did like. Lucas was during a dark period phase with Jedi And it really shows during TOD. Short Round just sucks worse the Mutt
