After focusing goddamned everything on Cena and Rock, and Cena and Punk, and everything getting stale and Cena Cena Cena, it's nice to see an influx of talent coming in and shaking things up. But there's something I've been noticing about this new influx of talent, in the last year or so.
Big E. Langston. Dean Ambrose. Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns. Bray Wyatt. The Wyatt Family. Fandango. Curtis Axel.
All of them are heels.
Is this, as my associate reflecto once mused, the Batman syndrome? Where the hero (Orton, Cena) gets a pass on being bland and boring as long as the villains are interesting and fascinating?

It's easier to be a heel, so it would make sense for more of the new guys to start as heels. I'm sure it'll balance out a little in time.

Yeah, it's much easier to get hated than it is to make fans actually care about you. I remember similar rounds of callups in the past where the mast majority of them were heels, leading to guys like Rob Conway, Chris Masters, Carlito, MNM, The Bashams, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak and most of the 2004-2005 debuts were almost entirely heels.

Yeah, most start off as heels then turn face when the crowd gets more familiar with them. Cena and Orton started as faces, but they were non factors until heel turns. As for the new group, Big E will probably turn face sooner or later.

How many heels on the roster, aside from the main eventers, actually get booed? Where as even a bland face can get a decent amount of cheers just from putting on an entertaining match.

Even Fandango who is suppose to be a heel is getting cheers, its just easier to book a heel start than a face. With a heel have him interrupt a face promo, or be associated with an established heel and there you go while booking a face is kind of hard to start with

They could try the ass kicking face. Have Yoshi Tatsu get destroyed by a mega-heel. The heel keeps beating the tar out of Yoshi until Mason Ryan (or whoever) runs in and destroys the heel. He gets on the mic, challenges anyone in the back and have him destroy a couple of mid-card heels.

They really need to balance it out. It really bothers me that the majority of the featured regulars are heels, and the majority of the faces are just warm bodies to put the heels over.
I really don't like this formula. You see heels getting pushed and getting over enough to turn face, which bogs down the face side of the roster making it even harder for faces to move up the card, unless THEY turn heel, and get pushed via the same stale formula that hammered their credibility into the ground to the point where they needed a heel turn to begin with.

It wouldn't matter if they came in face. If they got over, as Ryback did, they'd just turn him heel anyway to feed Cena, whom they're terrified to ever alter, tweak or turn.

The already fed The Shield to Cena, who literally ended their as-a-team undefeated streak BY HIMSELF, regardless of how it happened. I'm just waiting for the rest of them to line up and get fed.

There only chance to get pushed is as a heel. You'll never have a chance with the other faces in place, or even if you do, they'll turn you heel anyways.

Big E is a heel?
But seriously it makes sense, many wrestlers have got to the point where they're too respected to keep as a heel for more than a few months, that process takes a lot longer with new talent as they don't have that emotional connection with the majority of the audience.

current fans are so petty they won't cheer most guys just because you ask them to. Bringing a guy in a face is practically a death sentence
