So, I just finished the series and I gotta say, I actually really loved the ending. I know a lot of people weren't big on it, but I really can't think of a better way it could've ended.
So...let's discuss Lost! Obviously, there will be spoilers in this thread, so if you haven't seen it, maybe don't read it.
Also, Benjamin Linus is one of the most fascinating characters in television history, as far as I'm concerned. He might be my favorite out of everyone.

Ive got no complaints with the ending as well, I watched it twice already and I thought it was so much better the 2nd time, and even though some of the questions didn't get answers, most of them are easy to understand. Like, there are little clues, which makes you tie up loose ends.
for example this scene

I was never really confused about much. The only question I had lingering at the end was the stuff involving WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT, which abruptly ended mostly due to his hitting puberty real hard. But the epilogue at least provided some closure with his story. The series never went much into detail with his powers, which is a bummer, but I've seen an interesting explanation for it online that makes a lot of sense.

Have you seen "The New Man in Charge"? It was released after the show ended.

Loved the finale. It had symmetry. People get pissed because of the lack of a giant Q&A finalizing every plot point no matter how minor. Everybody got paid off in the end. Everyone. The symbolism throughout the series was dovetailed in the last two hours with the actions of the characters and the explanation of what the island was. I even forgave Jack for being so prominent despite my overwhelming indifference for his role and the constant Jack-centric episodes. Feel bad that Locke didn't get more than a few minutes in cannon last season

I thought Season 6 was one of the weaker seasons, but I loved the actual finale. Would have much rather had that than just Jacob reading down a list of fan FAQS.

I think a lot of people were cheesed because by season two a lot of fans theories had pretty much figured out the twist, but the creators kept saying "no that isn't right". SO when it comes along and they were right all of people got butthurt(tried to think of a better term for it but couldn't". The folks from the show could not come out and confirm that stuff so early, but many fans could not realize that for some reason.

I didn't watch it when it was actually airing, so I suppose I had the benefit of a lot of my questions being answered pretty promptly. Still took me a few months to watch through the show, but yeah.
Either way, I thought the ending was actually really excellent, and I feel like a lot of the people that hated it completely misunderstood what Christian said, and what happened.

I mean, the big theory was that the island was purgatory, and that wasn't true. The sideways flashes in the last season were purgatory, but the people on the island itself were all still alive (up until they died by island magic).

I think a big part of it was that they themselves didn't know where they were going with a lot of it. I think it was in the Season 2 DVD where one of the creators was talking about the season 1 finale with the hatch opening, and they didn't know what was actually going to be in it when they were writing it. I think they had a basic idea of what the island was, but then wrote most of it as they went along and got more and more episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if they never intended to have anything other than flashbacks, but then added the purgatory once they had nothing else to do and knew they wouldn't have to write anything else.

Loved the show and the ending. I was fine with a lot of the loose ends they left, but like I was telling Dude! on Facebook, the one I wish would have been handled better was Jacob and the Man In Black. I just didn't think that for the guy that brought all these people to the island, it was vague why he had basically manipulated and interfered with their lives just to keep his brother from leaving the island. IDK, I just wanted a little more.

I love Lost, heh. The ending worked ok for me, I didn't have any major complaints. It'd be impossible to end a massive show like that in a way that pleased everyone anyway. I think most of the problem was ABC wouldn't commit to an end date and so it was a bit of a scramble to fill episode plots until they knew for sure.
I'm currently making my way through the Lost encyclopedia, it's interesting.

watching "Adrift" (the second Michael episode) right now, and Walt's mom is flat-out a selfish f***ing bitch She totally was, I hated the fact that her bitchyness is directly what drove Michael towards being a crappy father AND a double murderer in the end, which of course meant he was stuck on the island as a ghost for all eternity after sacrificing himself on the freighter (unless Hurley and Ben Linus freed him after the finale I guess). All he wanted to do was be a good dad/husband and the woman would not even meet him halfway PLUS she totally replaced Mike with a white man father figure for Waaaaa-haha-aaaaalt!!! (hits home as a Black Man, personally)

I couldn't even wrap my mind around why she was acting the east she did.

I woulda rather the series ended with the hydrogen bomb explosion. Season 6 was terrible when compared to the rest of the series. Lets introduce a bunch of new characters and then completely ignore they even existed after the writers decided "OMG we have to give them answers". No dumbasses we didn't need answers, what made the show fascinating was the speculation of what was happening.

For me, it was a show that expertly strung along viewers waiting for answers that didn't exist. Ultimately, trying to make sense of any of it is doing it a service it doesn't deserve. It was very entertaining and I enjoyed watching it, but I would never go back and re-watch it for that very reason.
