I remember watching my DVD of Wrestlemania XIX a few years ago and seeing these segments with the Miller Lite Catfight Girls and I have to say that watching those segments made it seem very dated. Now I know that a lot of guys liked those Miller Lite commercials back then (I know I did), but man, it just seems like the whole thing shows that event's age.
What do you think? Everything else can probably hold up, except for Limp Bizkit's performance.

Well it was 10 years ago.
The rest holds up well though.

Well it was 10 years ago. The rest holds up well though. Yes, it was a decade ago, but even watching it about three years ago, that whole thing felt so dated.

That'll happen when you use something that has such a short shelf life. Watching it in 2005 made it feel dated.

That was just WWE over reaching in trying to be relevant and current, when in reality it made them seem so desperate. We missed out on an entire REAL match for that nonsense

Did they bump the Raw tag title match (RVD and Kane vs. Storm and Regal) to Heat for that?

You guys are probably too young to remember the Clara Peller/Velvet McIntyre pillow fight at Wrestlemania 2. Where was the beef you ask? In Corporal Kirchner's tights, that's where.

I'll always remember one of those bimbos calling Hogan "Holk Holgan" in that awful backstage argument skit.

I liked listening to Susan St. James on commentary and trying to guess just how turned on she was by the whole thing. Or wait, maybe that was the Adrian Adonis vs. Uncle Elmer match. I forget.

I liked listening to Susan St. James on commentary and trying to guess just how turned on she was by the whole thing. When people complain about the WWE's corporate boner over celebrities and entertainers, I want them to pop in a tape of Wrestlemania 2 and listen to the menthol-soaked raspy goodness that is Susan St. James saying "UH-OH" 76 times during the Randy Savage/George Steele match. Anyone don't believe me that she said "UH-OH" 76 times? Go on Youtube and type George Steele Wrestlemania 2 and there's a 10 minute video of the match and count yourselves. I might be off one or two. People think it's bad now, they had the co-star of a moderately successful sitcom doing COLOR COMMENTARY for a Wrestlemania. It would be like the WWE bringing in Robin from "How I Met Your Mother" and park her ass between Cole and Lawler and have her express her thoughts on full nelsons while The Rock fights John Cena for the soul of professional wrestling, or a belt.

I, for one. think we need more aging football stars on the commentary team. Art Donovan made the 1994 King of the Ring much more interesting.

Cole: "Ladies and gentlemen, we are glad to have this evening with us on commentary the legendary former Major League Baseball outfielder Pete Incaviglia."
Incaviglia: "Thanks for having me Michael. Wait, why am I here?"
*Cole shrugs*

Maybe in hindsight, given that he commentated on the 1995 one, didn't he?

Very dated? You must have misspelled "very horribly awful." Did they bump the Raw tag title match (RVD and Kane vs. Storm and Regal) to Heat for that? Storm & Venis (going by "Chief Morley" at that point, IIRC), actually. Regal was out a few months before that - after the Rumble - from that sickness he got from an India tour. He returned just over a year later.

WWE will do anything for a mainstream rub, no matter how tenuous it might be. Sometimes they get it absolutely right, like having Hugh Jackman as a guest. But usually it's just sad. If a fan for example at the NBA finals got accidentally hit in the face by Lebron, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE invited the fan onto RAW and did an angle with him. They often tend to attach themselves to things like that and it comes across as desperation.

Even back then when I heard about those two making an appearance at the event, I thought to myself "Why?" Yes, the women were hot. No denying that and there is no denying that the commercial got a lot of buzz back in late 2002 because of two hot women fighting and their clothes coming off, but to have them appear at a big wrestling event just sounded like they were trying to cash in on what was hot at the moment.
