I don't think too many people care how someone gets a title shot or title win. Think about RVD vs Cena from One Night Stand. Blatant interference by Edge, Heyman counting the pin, but not one person there gave any f**** that it wasn't a clean victory. Cena lost, their guy won. That was all that mattered.
Likewise Henry is my guy. Sure I would've liked if he beat Sheamus, but oh well. Henry has a title shot, which guarantees him some quality tv time and a real chance at being the champ. I don't care how.

It's not too different than the UFC. Title shots are earned with star power and personality. Wins and losses are a supporting consideration, but not determinative.

Yeah, but when you're in the WWE and you can script the results whichever way you want, there's even less of an excuse as to why wins and losses don't matter at all. It adds some logic and consistency to your completely scripted athletic performances. Wins lead to higher rankings which lead to title matches. I'll totally take that over this world where I could get a title shot if I can land a stiff punch on Cena's rubber jaw-like casing that's around his robot skeleton as if this is some nightmarish carnival game. Anything beats this current place where wins don't matter until the storylines deem it to be true in certain instances with about four people.

I still don't understand how Mark Henry can fly out of the void to flatten Cena and that somehow means he gets a title shot. Just...Cena just ain't trying to give anybody a non-title match? We can't have contenders that are actually in a line? Or a ranking system? It's like...just because you punch Cena in the face or flatten him with a clothesline shouldn't make you the number one contender. It also shouldn't make you a babyface to attack Cena, but it somehow always does. I love how all these so-called moments of betrayal that made you feel for guys like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and HBK in the past actually make you cheer on the heel instead today. Goofy, goody-two-shoes Cena getting annihilated seems to always register pure joy from the crowd instead of sorrow. It's hilarious. To this day, Paul Orndorff was in the right and wanted to discuss strategy for their tag match against Studd & Bundy. Hulk was too busy working out to answer the bleepin' phone! He couldn't spare 5 minutes of his time!
