Unless this builds to Paige coming in with McMahon approval. At the time I thought Steph's introduction of the NXT women's title sounded strange, more a corporate video than something for fans. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej24AMxeiW0Maybe that will play into the current angle as a way to debut Paige, or maybe Steph will add Emma and/or Summer too as her hand picked stable that represents what she thinks the division should be. Even using the word "women's" rather than "divas" could become a part of the angle. Yeah I'm reading too much into it.

i just took it as Steph trying to copy Vince to remind everyone she's a mcmahon since vince always got ticked off if someone dared to interupt him when he was in the ring talking. but hey at least she gave Kaitlyn a pass on it, vince would probably have put Kaitlyn in a handicap match against the shield or something over the top like that had it been him.

Where are people getting the idea that Steph is supposed to be a face? IMO she's always been presented as heel when she shows up. She insults the crowd, throws her weight around like her dad and husband, and of course acted like a complete bitch to both AJ and Kaitlyn last night. I haven't heard the commentators sing her praises much (A good indicator on whether somebody is supposed to face: listen to how Cole talks about them). She's a heel, or at least a tweener leaning on the heel side of things.

Well yeah, all the McMahons are going kinda power hungry, so none are really faces. But still, that just kinda seemed like a one off to put them all down.

I think they're just using the Divas division to push this McMahon Mania thing they got going where HHH, Vince, and Steph all think they run the show. No logic to it, except, I'm a McMahon, I'm the boss, remember that.

The best part of that segment was Steph telling AJ to stop playing into women stereotypes and act like a Champion. This big women empowerment speech is going on while the crowd chants WE WANT PUPPIES. (And they got one, too!)

She's a heel, or at least a tweener leaning on the heel side of things. Stephanie is THE tweener of the WWE. Seriously, they almost go out of their way to reinforce this again and again in storylines. One week she's desperately trying to broker peace between her father and her husband. Her father's a heel and her man's a face. Now this thing with Vickie as monkey in the middle is explicitly presenting Steph as the third option in between Yin and Yang. She's the option Vickie wasn't presented with before she had to deal with The Shield (basically I predict Steph will have a way to bail Vickie out/punish Dean Ambrose next RAW). She's an equal bitch to top Divas heel A.J. and top Divas face Kaitlyn. Really it's the kind of act that can just as easily get mega-cheered as an anti-hero gimmick like Stone Cold, or booed like the pompous/snobbish heels of Evolution did. It seems like they're playing Steph however she's most useful on that particular night, regarding her face/heel alignment. It also keeps her neutral in the blood sport between Vince and HHH.

I hate to be "that guy"* but I can't help but wonder if many of the members posting here are getting worked a little bit by Stephanie as the new heel authority figure for the Divas talking down to two IWC favorites. You weren't supposed to be on her side. I could see them doing an almost exact recreation of CM Punk/Triple H last year. But this time (hopefully) the new champ will come out better on the other end.
not him, the other "that guy"

It was the most Triple H-iest thing ever. A segment designed to make one person and one person only look good, while making everyone else involved in any way look like crap. God, those two are perfect for one another.
It was also the most Triple H-iest thing ever because Stephanie saw someone getting a tremendous response from the crowd and she rushed out there like, "WAIT GUYS DON'T FORGET I'M HERE" and threw a freezing cold wet blanket all over the whole proceeding.

So Steph scolds Kaitlyn for interrupting her.
.......ok. I can think of countless times Stephanie interrupted other people with her screeching babbling back in the day.
But why have that group of divas out there? Was Steph, by proxy, putting all of them down too?
I ask this because Stephanie is a McMahon, and doing something like that is entirely well within her familial nature.
Really, why are we supposed to take Kaitlyn or any of those other Divas (even AJ, though I think she's cray enough to not fall in that shadow) seriously if they're being verbally put in their place by a lady in a suit?
Do the McMahon's really not see the real world that's beyond HHH's nose?

I like HHH as a part time wrestler/sometime authority figure, Vince is okay when he's acting mental, but Stephanie is and has always been terrible. She just kills any interest in any angle that she's in for me. Just completely untalented as a performer and creative mind. Hopefully she's good on the business end of the WWE, because she adds nothing to the performing end.

Has anyone told Trips and Steph that "Geez, why do you bring that up, everyone brings that up!" doesn't devalue the insult of Trips "marrying his way to the top" and Steph "consorting with the locker room despite being in a power position."
Because they keep throwing out those comments to deflect it (even though the crowd "Ooh"s every time because it's a valid insult).

Making unpopular decisions Telling the employees not to screw up. Like Jack Tunney refusing to sanction a rematch between Warrior and Hogan because of concerns for the men's health. And suspending Andre the Giant for missing shows or making Savage and Roberts wait an extra week to fight to let Randy heal up more.

Another thing that drove me up a wall while watching that segment was the wholly unnecessary inclusion of every face Diva on the stage with Kaitlyn. They didn't come out there to help Kaitlyn fight AJ, they didn't try to break up the brawl, they were clearly just props for Stephanie McMahon to lord her power over. They were a handful of women who were told to go out on stage and look petrified of Stephanie McMahon, because like her husband, she has to be the most important person on the screen whenever she is on it.

The whole McMahon family dynamic is weird. Triple H and Stephanie come off as horrible people and Vince comes off as someone who motivates and compliments people.

The whole McMahon family dynamic is weird. Triple H and Stephanie come off as horrible people and Vince comes off as someone who motivates and compliments people. Vince is really making himself look good in his angle. When he praised The Shield last night he made it seem like their mayhem was business as usual, and Hunter has his panties in a wad over nothing.

I believe the divas were out there to offer emotional support, the same way they offered it the night before.

So it comes across (at least to me) as Steph needing that moment of putting EVERYONE in their place all at once. "But why?" "Because no matter what her last name legally is, it'll really always be McMahon."

Another issue I have with Stephanie getting after the other women was I don't think she's going to get any comeuppance. With Vince, he could do that because eventually, someone's gonna kick the shit out of him. Plus, it either has to be AJ or one of the other divas, and quite frankly, none of them really stand out but AJ. I was hoping that they were gonna have Kharma interrupt her, and they could do a deal where they bring Kharma back as Stephanie going after AJ, and then Kharma jumps Stephanie and hits her with a top rope splash or something, something where Kharma could work it so Stephanie doesn't get crippled. I guess Kharma could be AJ's Big E.
