Good lord that was funny. I get what Cena was going for, pointing out the guy who held it the longest, and the guy with the shortest reign, but the circumstances surrounding Rey's short title reign made that so hilarious. I think cumulative Rey does have the shortest time with the belt, as Kane's lasted a whole day, no 90 minutes or so, so there's that.
Still, I'm just picture Rey sitting at home watching RAW like "WTF man."

Yokozuna, Andre the Giant, Randy Orton and Cena himself have had shorter reigns than Rey. Then you even have guys like Foley, Bret, Hogan and Kane, Triple H who held the belt a whopping 1 day. What's the point? A title reign means nothing when it's over before you even digest the last meal you ate.
Hell, I wish they wouldn't even count these as "reigns", any title reign under 1 day shouldn't even be counted, although I'd probably include anything under a week.

Diddn't Brian Kendrick hold it for like 5 minutes?

Diddn't Brian Kendrick hold it for like 5 minutes? That was within the confines of a match so it doesn't count. It was essentially like being 2-0 up in an Ironman match, if the match ended at that very second or stayed the same until the end he would have been WWE Champion but he didn't, so he wasn't.

But yeah, I thought that was pretty funny myself. Combined with Cena talking about how Henry insulted all of the people ever forced to retire by doing basically the exact same thing he did to Barrett, it was a pretty unintentionally dickish promo, though a well-done one.

Andre certainly didn't, although I wish they actually built that up more, like he announces it a few weeks later or something. And while they may have had other reigns, it doesn't matter because those reigns fit in the same category of Rey's reign, where he was forced to defend the title the same night he won it. So....why not just give Cena a BYE in the tournament and have him automatically face the finalist for the title? Short title reigns, especially ones that last under a day just irk me. If given the opportunity to never win the title, or to hold it for an hour, I'd probably rather never hold it at all. It's just a prop and if they can't trust you making it to the next show with it, then why even bother? So you can call yourself "champion"? It's silly. Diddn't Brian Kendrick hold it for like 5 minutes? Not officially. The belt didn't officially change hands until the match was over. And of course, DAH GAAAAME retained.

The hilarious fact about Rey's title reign isn't so much the length, but the fact that because of the Punk storyline, he wasn't even the sole WWE Champion for those two hours, as Punk's reign is recognized from Money in the Bank until Summerslam.

This was the only time I thought Cena was a serious dick. Rey Mysterio had a 20 minute exhausting match with The Miz and Cena didn't give him the time to rest or a day to enjoy the championship. Rey Mysterio looked really stupid accepting the challenge later on tonight. Cena should of said "Dude I know you want to be a fighting champion and we both agree we need to fight but let's do it next week. Enjoy your win, have fun with your family. I'll see you next week."

Neither Rey's reign or Cena's subsequent reign should even count. Imo they should've been erased from history once Punk beat Cena at Summerslam.

Rey was trapped by the curse of facedom. If someone challenges you, then you must fight them that night becuase you're ready to fight the good fight against all comers and only a dastardly heel would try to beg off from accepting such a match. so once cena made the challenge Rey "had" to accept. that's why whenver a face challenges the heel to a fight "right here in <location>" the heel is always "ok we'll fight...but not tonight!" <crowd boos> i did find it funny that Cena of all people is the one to bring up rey's reign of a couple hours when he's the reason why it lasted less than a day by challenging rey to the defense in the first place.

So, in 2012, when Punk held the title, it's meaningless, it's worthless, it doesn't mean anything, it's all about the fans and the universe and the Cenation.
But in 2013, holding the title even for a second means you have a legacy for all eternity.
F--- you, Cena. Just f---- you.
Seriously. I enjoyed quite a bit of Raw, but this rubbed me the wrong goddamned way.

Well they should of had a backstage segment with HHH, Rey, and Cena where they say you wanted to see us boss? Then HHH was like yes I do for I have a huge announcement for the main event next week of Raw that you Rey Mysterio will defend your WWE Championship against Cena in the main event next week on Raw. Then they all shake hands and say good luck.

Of course Rey wasn't gonna turn down the challenge - faces take on all comers, even if they're held together by bubblegum and Vegemite. Thus, insert a heel to challenge said babyface for the title mere minutes after them winning it.
