Those are awful consoles. The games on them are usually poorly emulated, and have tons of other issues.

Not only that, you can get a Genesis at a used games store for about $20 + a Controller and a Sonic game, usually 1 or 2. Games aren't that expensive either. I'd rather have 10 cartridges and a working original console for that price rather than a system that's faulty and has crappy controllers and badly emulation problems.

Hardly surprising that those 80 in 1 consoles would be shit.

Yeah, from what I've seen, the system is an updated version of the Sega Firecore that came out a couple of years ago, the only difference is that they bumped up the number of games. And while it does say 80 games, only 40 of those are Genesis titles. The rest are games that should belong with a knock-off Chinese gaming system. There's a good analysis of the system itself with this video...
One thing that is nice is that it's region free. And you can use your original Genesis controllers if you have them. However, the compatibility with actual Genesis games can be hit or miss. And the sound? Dear LORD is it terrible. The audio quality is low and the pitch is completely off. I cried when I heard Sonic the Hedgehog on the system. ;_;

Of course they suck.
Urban Outfitters is a Hipster Store.
And in order to like the system ironically, it has to suck.

Toys "R" Us Express was selling these at Christmas time last year for $49.99. I didn't get one mainly due to the games on it wasn't worth the price to me. I can only pay for and play Sonic - Sonic and Knuckles so many times before I have to put my foot down. That and the Streets of Rage series and Vector Man 1 & 2. I played all these games to death in the 90's and to be honest...they haven't aged well in my opinion. That's weird because I still find quite a few of the SNES games still very playable, but the Genesis games...not so much.
I would be happier just getting the Atari Flashback 4 and saving some money instead of spending near $70.00 for this thing. If they really wanted to appeal to buyers they would get rid of the mini game crap and put something in there that people would want. Like some rare games that haven't seen a release in years...like finding a way to emulate the 32X to include Knuckles Chaotix and the really good version of Virtua Fighter as well. It beats VF 2 on Genesis...that's for sure.
If they did that I might consider buying one.

"Hey, I couldn't go to a flea market, so I had to settle for a cheap remake." If you wanted a new console that could play Genesis games, why don't you go a website like Think Geek and get a SNES/Genesis player for $40. From what I've heard, they are coded better, as well.

All the deep-seated disgust and resentment this board has toward hipsters/the idea of hipsterism/anything hipster-related never fails to crack me up. Sometimes I wonder how and why that term became such a broad whipping boy. It's one of the worst, mostly culturally acceptable slurs around here.

Anyway, just to back up what everyone else has said, you'd be better off buying a Genesis off eBay or in a retro store. That thing looks clunky and really poorly put together anyway.

The Retron 3 is also very good as well. They also play import games and has controller inputs and the wireless controllers they have are well done as well. I have one and it runs really well.

I bought one a while back and it pretty okay system. I was surprised that it can play Star Fox since most clone system have trouble playing it due to the FX chip.

I own an SNES clone(I think it's the FC Twin) that plays Star Fox flawlessly plus the NES sound is spot on(most Famiclones have awful off pitch sounds), but I'm glad I still own a genuine Sega Genesis. I think I saw one of these things at the Family Dollar and was thinking about getting one for Christmas for the heck of it(I think it was $30) but hearing some of the responses here makes me glad I didn't. You'd just be better off getting the Ultimate Genesis Collection for you 360 or PS3 instead.

I have an AtGames "Ultimate Portable Game Player" Genesis (also known as a Gopher), which is basically like that system only it's a portable and has better emulation.
And you can put almost any Genesis ROM onto an SD card it'll play on there. I got mine for around $20 last year at Dollar General, and it was worth every penny.
Most games seem to work on it, and there are patches online for some that don't (like Contra and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3).
