I think we are hitting an age where the best and most honest journalism and news report sites are Facebook and Twitter.

I think we are hitting an age where the best and most honest journalism and news report sites are Facebook and Twitter. Everyone is a news person now, for better or worse. I think that it is mostly for the better. The Boston Marathon bombing was pretty good evidence of that IMO. Lots of info, and pictures helped catch those guys for sure. Sad to hear of the performers death, but at least she was doing something that she loved when she died. RIP.

I think we are hitting an age where the best and most honest journalism and news report sites are Facebook and Twitter. Let me admit my bias right off the bat: I'm a journalist. That said, I don't believe Facebook/Twitter can or should replace actual journalism. "Most honest" has some merit (I'd go with "most comprehensive" because social media can cover so many angles), but I completely disagree with "best." When any news story breaks, there is a ton of chaff and bullshit out there to go with the good stuff. People need one person or a concentrated team to sort through all the noise because I'm not going to read poorly written account by someone whose language is steeped in bias and doesn't have their facts straight. There are definitely bad journalists out there who ruin the news with false information and bias, but those are much more the minority than the majority. Ideas really need to be curated by one person or a small group--not an infinite mass of mostly anonymous social media people--for proper effect and transmission. What applies to journalism applies the same way to making movies or music or running a business or whatever else. Having too many cooks--especially ones who don't have a vested interest in keeping up with their profession or unprofessional ones (That idea applies mostly to journalists versus artists)--is a bad idea.
