(Slight Language Warning)
This song, let me tell you. It's amazing in how they turned this into a music video that could EASILY be mistaken for something from the 1970's. Like, if you didn't know Bruno Mars, you'd think it was a 70's song you just happened to forget about.
I'm not making fun of it or anything, it's a good song, it's just jaw dropping to me on how well they were able to take a modern artist ''back in time'' like that, that must have taken an INSANE amount of work and effort.

The song has a bit of an Earth, Wind & Fire vibe, so the video is just perfect for it.

Retro style analog-filmed videos are always fun. Sum 41 did a similar thing with We're All To Blame, as did the Prodigy with Take Me To The Hospital.

I honestly thought it was from the 70's the first time I heard it. I was like "Is this Disco night or something?".

I frickin' LOVE this song. Bruno Mars is awesome. This song reminds me of Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Until You Get Enough".

I always think it sounds a little like PYT by Michael Jackson or just Thriller era Jackson in general. Not the exact same, but a very similar style.

The small details like the pillar-box for the 4:3 aspect ratio, the little bit of analog noise in the video, the blur that simulates video degradation from continued dubs, and not making it available in HD resolution...that shows that they were serious about making this song a throwback to the Earth, Wind, and Fire/Michael Jackson days of R&B.
But upon repeated viewings, there's some other stuff that if you didn't look, you'd miss.
1) The overtrack that is present at the bottom, ala a poorly tracked VHS. 2) The frame wobble on the left hand side around the 2:17 mark, again, ala an overly played and/or multigeneration VHS dub. 3) The attention to creating a mediocre green screen shot that left jaggies at the edges and just a little bit of green spill visible.
Really, really fantastic stuff for those of us who appreciate that. I think the one thing missing from this video that would have completed the illusion would have been a lower third at the end listing out the band, song title, record title, label, and year, all in a simple font with a bad drop shadow and some edge flicker.
I wrote Bruno Mars off pretty early, but I may seriously have to rethink my opinion of him. Not many artists would be so thorough in their craft like this.
Now, to explain all those details to kids who don't know or appreciate what VHS is and why this was so impressive to see in that nostalgic kind of way...

Glad this song is getting the credit it deserves here. It's my favorite song out there right now.

I like this one and Daft Punk's Get Lucky. I can't believe this style is coming back and it isn't lame. I had been rolling my eyes over the come back fashions, but so far the throwback tunes are good.

This is seriously the most perfect summer song I've heard in years.
I mean, it doesn't really have anything to do with summer, but just hearing it on the radio is good times.

Love this and every other song off of Unorthodox Jukebox! I kept expecting to see Don Cornelius show up at the end of the video.

I heard this about a month or so ago and within a few seconds I knew I loved it. Definitely a Michael Jackson vibe from it. Although it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't get the love it deserves overall because it's too good and feel-good.
