I wonder... like, when there's a close pinfall after a big move, why do wrestlers try to attempt a second pin? That sort of thing never seems to work, and you'd think that it'd be much better if they tried knocking the opponent down again.

It's a way to tire out your opponent by forcing them to exude more energy. It's similar to a rear chin lock where you're not going for the submission you're trying to wear your opponent down.

i'm guessing it's the wrestler refusing to believe that the move didn;t get a pinfall so they go for the cover again because the ref was obviously slow counting the first time and it'll work now!
or something like that.

A little bit of what sunnytaker is saying, and toxik as well. King or someone else was saying once that it's to wear out the opponent, since obviously it takes less energy to pin someone down than it does to push them off.
