MoviePilot.com reports that actor Liev Schreiber has been tapped to play Chris Benoit in a movie about the tragic double murder-suicide. The movie is titled Crossface and is written by Sarah Coulter. The movie will reportedly cover Benoit's life from the early days in his career through the final days of his life where he murdered his son and wife. Several WWE stars including Triple H and Vince McMahon will be portrayed.

I hope whoever plays Triple H, gets the make-up treatment that the guy who played the Brow in Dick Tracy got.

Sounds like something that they will be showing on Lifetime every other Saturday afternoon between a Tori Spelling date rape movie and a Candace Cameron domestic violence movie.

I think he'll be able to capture Chris's personality and demeanor very well, though he doesn't especially look like Chris Benoit.
That said, I have no interest in seeing this.

We're going to have gifs for days just on the actors of HHH and Vince alone. Thats not counting the other wrestlers bound to show up.

Seems like the last positive feel good wrestling movie was Body Slam. Benoit movie - Wrestler murders his family. The Wrestler (2009) - Wrestling leaves you a broken man. Ready to Rumble - Wrestling fans are total losers. No Holds Barred - Wrestling is a horrible apocalyptic nightmare where evil promoters try to kill their competition's wrestlers as well as trying to kill or rape their loved ones. What happened to the good old days of Harry Smilac? Where wrestling wasn't a dead end but a new beginning? Where scruffy up and comers like Roddy Piper could improve their lives and the lives of others through wrestling? I'm not saying that wrestling should be whitewashed, but it'd just be nice to have a movie about wrestling that wasn't such a downer. There's so much more to it than that.

This is going to be great when you consider that there's no way that the WWE allows the use of character names or likenesses. I can't wait for this masterpiece. This will be Jesse Ventura movie bad.

Which side of the spectrum would you put Nacho Libre? That's a notable omission. But to me I guess it seems different because it wasn't about anything like pro wrestling as we know it in America. Certainly as a movie it portrayed wrestling in a fun and positive light. Clearly there needs to be a sequel where Nacho is brought into a major American wrestling promotion and gets hurt a lot while pointing.

They should go for the distasteful trifecta and reenact Owen Hart/Blue Blazer's accidental death, and Eddie Guerrero's overdose/heart attack (not sure which version of his death is true) while they're at it.
EDIT: Just realize Chavo Guerrero would be the main star of the movie if they did in fact include Eddie since he was the last person contacted by both Benoit and Eddie.

I read it as Rob Schneider. {Spoiler} Rob Schneider is a professional wrestler, with everything going for him. Until one day...

If this actually happens, I could see Liev doing a damn good job. However, this movie will be terrible, despite whatever quality it may have. There's just no good feeling to come from this. There's no happy ending. There's only bitter memories and heartache. It'll be a movie with absolutely no positive moments, because absolutely everybody knows how it ends and would not enjoy a single second of the ride.

I think its a story worth telling. Just like The Wrestler was, as much as the sport we love is beneficial to people, it also has a very dark side to it. If this indeed happens, I only hope they are able to use likenesses and be as truthful as possible. I will be upset if they take liberties with the story, just because I think its such a tragic tale. Liev is a great actor, I like most of his work. Could be much worse.
