Strange as it seems, I one day maybe this year or next, want to try and train to become a Wrestler. I have a local school I can go to on Sundays but the thing being, I don't feel I am ready. I have been running for yonks and notice my stamina is quite frankly crap and needs work. And if I showed you a picture of myself you would laugh at my attempted efforts First off, here's the school www.dropkixx.co.uk/index2.htmSecond, any basic advice you should give me would be well appreciated ;D

I know that Mick Foley once said the single most important bit of advice he could give any aspiring wrestlers today was to get a college education.
Since I've never worked in the ring, I couldn't give you any personal advice other than the cliche: "If it's something you really want to pursue, go for it full force and don't give up."

Yes, have the best "back up" you can, i.e. a college plan and a day job you like with benefits. Obviously work on your stamina and work out. But also become a hard core fan of whatever fed(s) you hope to work for. Volunteer to set up the ring, pass out advertisements, whatever they want you to do. Let them get to know you.

Finish your school and make wrestling your secondary, or tertiary (gotta work to eat!). Seriously, and I'm not trying to bring you down, but it will take years of training to turn you into a good wrestler. Do what others have said (offer to help set up the ring, etc. for free) and get to know your local indies.

I havent been to wrestling school for like a month because I ran out of money. I have a job now though So I should be heading back soon. I dont really agree with making wrestling secondary. You have to go out and give 110%. I mean I am paying 500 a month and driving 2 hours everyother day just for training but to me it is totally worth it.

If you try to make it your primary, you're going to have some serious f***ing trouble. You have to be willing to make it your life, but it's also not going to pay the bills. It's just a rough thing to be into. Myself, I'm just waiting until I have a steady job and a place of my own before I dive head-first into training. I have to quit smoking, too. *cries*

I drive over 2 hours myself to wrestle, it takes a lot of commitment. I don't mean to say make wrestling "secondary," but I have seen too many unemployed potheads claim that they are saving everything for their wrestling dream. A day job with benefits should not hold you back from wrestling on weekends and even from training. Have an income, because it probably won't be wrestling, at least not for a long time.

Do what others have said (offer to help set up the ring, etc. for free) and get to know your local indies. I understand all that and I know all the pluses and negatives. It's why it's one of the reasons I am saying try rather than actually full on do it. I do have other things on my mind and such, including getting a job, screenwriting, getting a university place and my production company I hope to start up but training is on my list. That's pretty much my status on the whole thing. My advice is to marry your booker's daughter. Best. Advice. Ever.

That makes sense.I agree with that. Although when I head back I am going to figure out a schedule because it is going to be hard. I am working overnights I was thinking I can maybe stay up throughout the day and sleep when I get home but I have no idea how long I would be able to last doing that. I don't know but I am determined to becoming a wrestler.

If you get in shape, and get committed, this seems like a GREAT school. -Jake Roberts. Can teach you FANTASTIC ring physcology and mic skills. -Doug Williams. Fantastic wrestler! With these two teaching you you could become big, if you pick up both the wrestling skill and physcology.

Rocky Romero is the head trainer. Shinsuke Nakamura was our head trainer when Rocky was in japan. And Minoru Tanaka was helping train us for a while. Christy Hemme will train there sometimes (hot). its the same school where American Dragon and Samoa Joe trained.
