Went and watched it this afternoon. As a huge fan of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and the gang it was my most anticipated film of the year. It was very good and really funny and I'm not saying it was disappointing but I think it's the weakest of the Cornetto trilogy. Although I've only seen it once, it just didn't have that "instant classic" feel I got from Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. It's still great entertainment but maybe my expectations were too high.

I can't wait to see this.
I wonder if Simon Pegg being in the two Star Trek films(and particularly being the scene stealer of Into Darkness, imo) will help this film's box office? I really hope it does, because Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost deserve some massive success, imo. Those three collectively have made some of the funniest films of the last decade or so, with Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul, and Scott Pilgrim all being films I go back to and I never get bored with despite me having most of the dialogue in these films memorized.

At first I thought This is The End was the same film a few months back. Of course this is the better film simply because Simon Pegg is in it.

So, it's the new Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright/Nick Frost film and the third and final film in the Cornetto Trilogy, and it's out now in the UK (I think you guys across the pond get it mid-August if I'm not mistaken?) Just want to say - holy shit I love it. I've seen it twice, really liked it the first time, but wasn't overly excited about seeing it again only a couple of days after seeing it for the first time. Anyway, I went as I can get into the cinema for free (thank you Cineworld unlimited card) and could get my friend in for free too and I am SO glad I did. Honestly, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a film quite as much second time around as I did this one. The little details in the background, your views on the characters are completely different (will elaborate in spoilers below) and honestly, knowing where the plot is heading allows you to enjoy the film that much more. Probably my second favourite of the three, I'd say only inches behind Shaun of the Dead. Honestly, it's that good. Plus it has my favourite Cornetto joke out of the trilogy! So have any UK'ers seen it already or any Americans really looking forward to it? Spoilery thoughts are below {Spoiler}{DO NOT CLICK HERE UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS}So first time round, I must have been watching too hard to really absorb it. I wasn't sure if I liked the characters it was very unfamiliar to me, it is definitely a more adult, mature film.
However second time round, I knew Simon Pegg's character was a twat, so I watched it thinking we're following the antagonist rather than protagonist and I enjoyed it so much more. The jokes clicked better, the characters seem more likeable, it was just so much better second time around.
The little details were phenomenal as well down to the sound of the fruity from Shaun being in it, all the messages in the pubs, the pub names themselves. Just a fantastic, fantastic film!

American here, looking forward to it. Not sure what to expect, since I really enjoyed Shaun of the Dead but I wasn't into Hot Fuzz at all.

Saw it last night. Really liked it but I don't think it's as good as SOTD or Hot Fuzz.
Plus Timothy Dalton > Pierce Brosnan imo

I am excited for this, especially after finally seeing Paul. Frost and Pegg have such perfect chemistry. That is why Hot Fuzz is the best gay romantic comedy I have ever seen.

so my fellow Americans, how do we all feel about this one? i personally enjoyed the hell out of it. as for the trilogy, i'd rank them:
1. Hot Fuzz 2. The World's End 3. Shaun of the Dead
and since someone is bound to ask, i'm not a fan of zombie movies and i never really got Shaun and thus its my least favorite

It is my favorite movie in years. People were laughing so hard you missed half the movie, but ya know what? That is awesome, I am ok with that. It was funny as hell, but more importantly, it had depth. Wonderful film. Blows away every other movie I have seen this year.

I just realized this movie was damn near a drunken, fallen Hank Pym versus Ultron story...weird.

I am pretty sure my ex is going to drag me out from my hermit cave to see this movie, and frankly I can't wait. I wish Edgar was in Guest House Paradiso, so I could make a smart ass comment.

Saw it last night, and while I don't think it's as funny as Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, I still think it's a great movie. And it was great to see Frost play straight man to Pegg, when usually it's the other way around, and he gave an outstanding performance.

Can we just mention that Nick Frost has a more varied and awesome move set than anyone currently wrestling?

Can we just mention that Nick Frost has a more varied and awesome move set than anyone currently wrestling? The Blanks were getting squashed left and right, despite having better workrates. The only reason Frost was going over so much was because he's buddy buddy with the director. haha Anyway - yeah, this was a pretty fun movie. I felt like Shaun and Hot Fuzz were more well-done parodies that really played with the conventions of the genre, but World's End was more about creating its own pre-post-apoc mythos so it felt alittle out of place in the Coretto Trilogy, but it was definitely enjoyable. The last like..10 minutes was f***ing insane though. I kinda wish the movie started with the end and went from there, but W...T...F? You really see Wright's progression as a director from Hot Fuzz to this because it had Scott Pilgrim written all over the action.

It was more of an action film than a comedy, so I went in expecting Shaun/Fuzz type of film, which was a bit disappointing. But on its own, it's a fine movie. Still doesn't beat Hot Fuzz.
The Cornetto gag was brilliant, though.

I still plan on buying it, no doubt, and making a habit of watching all three over a weekend.
