They did them to Triple H last year, and recently chanted it at Kaitlyn.

I see. I just haven't been watching and I just asked myself that.

At Payback when Kaitlyn tapped out. I remember starting that chant in my section. Then it started to go around to everyone.

it's still hilarious that that's the response Trips got for his oscar-baiting antics last year.

"he woulda tapped every one of ya'll out too" - Based Henry
Faces need to start tapping out more often, so this chant isn't a thing anymore. UFC has shown the general public that there's no shame in tapping out, it's smarter than letting someone break your leg or something.

Problem is even with that for years the WWE have been telling their fans that tapping out is for pussies so that anit going to change anytime soon. You're right, it won't change overnight. But I think it can be done over time. If it becomes more commonplace, eventually fans will get tired of chanting you tapped out to 5 different faces throughout a show. Maybe have someone get seriously injured by staying in a submission too long and miss out on a big title shot or something, showing the consequence of being stubborn instead of smart. I don't expect to see this happen as long as "Never Give Up" John Cena is around though. As funny as it was for Triple H to go for sympy and get showered with "you tapped out" chants, that's indicative of a pretty big problem, and I bet Trips is going to try to fix that as time goes on.

Remember back in 2002 when Kurt Angle made Hogan and Kane tap out. It was a big deal but it didn't do any damage to either of them and it put Angle over enormously. These days, the "you tapped out" stigma is back and it really affects matches where someone has a submission finisher. For example, you know that Del Rio is never going to make any face above midcard tap out to the cross armbreaker.

I don't remember that but I'm sure you're right if you remember it. I still think it's quite telling of the overall situation that it's that long ago that he may have made anyone significant tap out.

I don't remember a midcard babyface or higher submitting in a WWF match between say 1985 and 1996. It was still pretty rare after that. I know people would like to see it happen more often, but it happens now a ton more than it ever has.
