At the risk of being labeled a Nash smark and "fan"..I'll restate my opinion that I think it's a positive, quick, entertaining way to give tyhe guys a personality.

It's great for a few reasons.
The bickering between Austin Starr and Alex Shelly is similar to that of two kids fighting over the love of a parent. Austin Starr is the one getting all the love, but doesn't really appreciate it that much, and just assumes he deserves it. Alex Shelly is more appreciative and will do anything to get the love of that father figure, being Kevin Nash.
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt never got the chance to show a personality, until now.
And Senshi is just going along for the ride and is still looking like a bad ass that no one wants to mess with.

I agree as well. To me its not about Nash. If They had anyone else who was that funny doing the skits, I would feel the same way. I like Nash, but he's finished in the ring.

You really don't get it.
If Nash leaves, nothing will be left. That is the problem. Not Nash, not the quality of the skits. But this carried by Nash and Shelly.
Of course he will give them a rub and they can learn from him. But they are also completely dependent of Nash.
Now please understand that and don't act like people flame you for no reason at all.

No they're not. Austin Starr himself is the most independant because he's just this crazy ego maniac who just loves the attention he gets. Alex Shelly can still have the paparazzi gimmick with his camera, and can also be a quick witted heel, and also someone who is a dependant type of person. After Kevin Nash, he may try to go for someone else to get attention. Senshi's character hasn't changed much as the bad ass warrior, the straight man who goes out to kill people. Jay Lethal is now a more snarky and sarcastic type of wrestler and can use that in his matches. He can wrestle in such a way where he's always out smarting and out doing his opponent. In his promos, he can quickly rag on an opponent for random things, and name things off like Chris Jericho (as I feel his character is geared toward that Chris Jericho type of personality I feel, but that's just an example). Sonjay Dutt is a goofy type of character, and may do weird things to get into the head of his opponent (not jackass type things though). Sonjay always does lack self esteem, and when someone claims something about him (such as the steroids thing), he'll start to get all insecure and try to correct that. That can be translated into someone who is easily manipulated and easily taken advantage of and made to feel pretty rotten, so when he's in a match, the people would want to get behind him and have him stand up for himself.

Shelly is a future legend in the making. And with him you might even say Nash is holding him back, since he is sort of Nash's lackey. But that is a different discussion. Shelly is a star and just like Aries they were already in the Paparazi stable and do have a future but could also have that without Nash. Just give them a mic. Senshi is the actually the only one who has benefited from the skits. Since he was able to be funny and keep his credibility. That has added to his gimmick. Lethal could have already used that style in his matches. He doesn't need Nash for that. Shelly wrestles that style, he doesn't even need a mic to make clear he is a smart ass and extremely intelligent ring general. And are you talking about Dutt or Eric Young?

Shelly and Starr do have a future, but this is all just adding to their characters, and once it's over, they could keep it apart of them.

I think he's having a positive impact with these skits. And this is coming from someone who during Nash's first go at it with Sabin this year was absolutely crushing him for only being in it for himself.

Pretty much everybody enjoys the skits. I do too. It's not like VKM where pretty much everyone shits on the quality of the jokes and the time it is taking up. People are saying 'Nash isn't helping the X-Division in the long run'. They are not saying 'Nash is killing the X-Division by simply being on tv'. So it is not an opinion, it is simply a fact.

Shelly and Starr do have a future, but this is all just adding to their characters, and once it's over, they could keep it apart of them. Yet the reaction you'd want for Dutt is the same as Young had. He was the underdog because people felt sorry for him. They wanted him to win, he was a loveable loser. In your scenario Dutt would get the same reaction. People would want to get behind him because he would be the loveable loser. And Lethal is a guy I don't see much of a future in. As a wrestler he doesn't impress me next to tons of other guys who do really cool moves. His look is alright but nothing too special. To me he is the best example of a wrestler who is just there. He'll need to grow a lot more then just being part of Nash's jokes.

You think because you have an opinion that the people who disagree must be lacking something..but the fact is not very many people on here agree with you. Thats not saying you are wrong...but you thinking one way doesnt make my opinions invalid either. It's real simple. Your opinion is just that..not the golden rule. And hell..this one isnt even popular.

Lethal and Sonjay have found their voices and went beyond generic X-division cruiserweight.
Hell it's starting to show in Jay Lethal's JAPW self.
Shelley and Starr were the 2 guys who people thought this would be used to put over, and they are getting over even more because of it. They are like simultaneous Jerichos
and Senshi as the Steve Blackman to everybody Else's Al Snow and Chris Jericho
Really it's well done
It's all about where Russo wants to go after these segments, and if TNA chooses to branch out into their x-guys and other wrestlers on their roster.

And hell..this one isnt even popular. Opinions are a lot like democracy. People think that the majority is always right. You keep calling it opinions even when things are fact. Look at the criticism on the skits. Is it about Nash taking up too much time and making people look weak? No, it's about the durability. Yet you make a completely new topic and ask the question if Nash is having a positive impact and then give as answers 'yes he's giving them personality' and 'no he is stealing their heat'. And then say 'oh watch out, you may get flamed for having an opinion'. It wasn't about Nash stealing their heat. It was about the long run. Not about the quality, not about the rub, not about those guys finally having something to do. Because I'll agree with you on that one. Those skits are very funny. Nash is doing amazing stuff. Of course the majority of people feel that way. It's great entertainmnet. But the thing is, we're not talking about that. We are talking about wether or not those skits that we all enjoy. Will SAVE the X-Division. And my answer to that is no. And my answer is indeed an opinion. But that we are not having a discussion about the quality of the skits is not an opinion. That is a fact, so don't call it an opinion.

You think because you have an opinion that the people who disagree must be lacking something..but the fact is not very many people on here agree with you. That is not to say many people don't agree with us. Some people just don't want to bother with arguing about Kevin Nash. he's that irrelevant in the world of wrestling. End of story. Like you said, it's opinion, and judging by the fact it's the same 5 or 6 people talking about this goonshow (Mr. Nash) versus the hundred + memebrs of this board pretty much negates the Kevin Nash sewing circle, me thinks. Fish, or fowl - the only people who care about this subject barely number to that of bench warmers on your average baseball team.

I never said they would save anything..but I think the skits and Kevin Nash are giving the division a positive rub.
If TNA doesnt give them time to wrestle and build storylines with those new personalities it's not going to mean a damn thing..but that's not Kevin Nash's fault.
My point...in this thread and the other one...is simply the fact that Kevin Nash and the skits are a positive for the division.

My point...in this thread and the other one...is simply the fact that Kevin Nash and the skits are a positive for the division. It's good television. Is it positive? Not that much, but it's not negative either. Lethal and Dutt need to grow a lot more to become credible stars TNA can build on. They won't become superstars with just a couple of skits. Shelly, Starr and Senshi are talents and people TNA can build on. They don't need Nash, just a camera is enough for them. So with that in mind. It is my opinion that Kevin Nash doesn't really do much and in the long run can be considered irrelevant. It's just very good television. Which can help TNA. People can look at TNA just for those skits, but once again that is different then 'Nash is good for the X-Division'.

It can certainly be argued exactly how much effect this will have long term...but I think it's been at least a small positive in each mans career.
Not enough to "make" them..not even close..just enough to lay a decent foundation should TNA take the ball and involve them in interesting matches and storylines.
