When I first saw this headline, I shuddered. But after giving it some thought, I feel like they've gone about as far as they can with Chris and Ann, and I feel like they'll nicely write them out as Chris and Ann the couple.
If I had to rank the main characters in order of importance to the integrity of 'Parks and Recreation', I'd rank them as follows:
Leslie, Ron, Ben, April, Tom, Andy, Ann, Chris
Honestly, after Leslie, Ron and Ben, those remaining four are somewhat expendable. Not that I'd want any part of a "Parks and Rec" without Tom or Andy, but the show could go on without them.
The show has built such a deep roster of important secondary characters like Donna, Jean-Ralphio and Jerry, and useful role players like Perd, Joan and Tammy II that they can afford the loss of two central characters and continue on as if nothing is hugely amiss. In five seasons, Pawnee now rivals only Springfield in "The Simpsons" in terms of such a large town with so many versatile characters.
I mean, Mark was one of the three most important characters of the first two seasons, and, as much as I'd like to see him back on the show, they wrote him off and people hardly think about him any more. I don't even think he's been referenced on the show since season three.

I thought one of them may be Chris Pratt with his filming the Guardians Of The Galaxy film. Glad it's not him as I do love Andy on the show. I enjoy Chris and Ann but I think the show will be fine without them.

As others have said not the most important characters, but a shame and a loss for the show none the less. I selfishly always want all the actors to stay till the end in television series that I like, even though it isn't much change for the actors year after year when they may want more. It's the same with Donald Glover and Community, the show just won't be the same and that's why I always hope/want actors to stay to the end.

As BRV stated, at least it works with the storyline. Still though, I'll miss 'em.
Not gonna lie though, I can breathe easier knowing it wasn't Plaza or Offerman.

Eh, that show really fell off for me during Leslie's run for City Council so...no big loss there.

Whew! I was expecting Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza. But this still sucks. The show has such a strong cast and it hurts to lose anyone of them.
