Epic season. Each one I'm a part of just feels like it gets better and better from all participants. Unbelievable how this one stepped up a whole new level. Going to be impossible to find a better host than what we've had. And the thing is, we've had success in the past because of stellar hosts and fill-ins. That's really what has made the game have its longevity in addition to the great song selections. Tyger raised the bar.

That's really what has made the game have its longevity in addition to the great song selections. Tyger raised the bar. Thanks Pegasus. It was a perfect storm of just about everything going right. I'm proud of what I was able to do but I had a lot of help, including Peg, who I could bounce ideas off of, Brad and Orange, who I could count on talking to about the game and just things in general. J stepped in big time when he didn't have to and Widow's Peak constantly brings musical knowledge that blows the rest of us away. Gus and Brainbustaaah! did a great job early on, just that schedule and some personality issues came up; they both are great guys who helped me this Season. I also got to talk to a lot of the contestants, like Brad, ANONYMOUS, Roxie, Cageking, Sloth and Ssnakebite, Square and fw91 and that was a big plus as well. Having people to talk to, about the Game or just shooting the breeze, makes everything easier. Having a bunch of categories helped make the Season what it was and I owe a lot of that to Past Season Hosts. I figured that, if it's not broken, don't fix it, so I took a lot of the categories from Past Seasonss and either used them as is or modified them. The U.S/England duo Round way back in Round 4 was influenced by a "Battle of the Sexes" Team Round and things like the Bells and Whistles category or the Live Round came from other Seasons too. I was also influenced by reality tv shows, as seen in the Battle of the Bands 4 on 4 Round that was inspired by Top Chef. The single best resource for running this game is the other Seasons and I hope whoever goes next learns and improves on things we did here. We had 17 amazing contestants and I wish we got to see more from a lot of them. I hope that this Season, if it does anything, ensures we'll have more in the future and that's all we can do. At the end of the day, what made this Season run smoothly was how polite everyone (after a while) was to each other, how timely, and how patient people were. So, we all did an amazing job.

Congrats to my my old Honey & Nutella partner (which one of us was Honey and which one was Nutella again?) on the win! Really well deserved. Also congrats to Roxie for one hell of a season. You should be really proud of the song list that you put together, it was really phenomenal.
You two ladies really did not make the finale easy at all, not one bit. Of course that was to be expected though as you two are both very formidable (Joy Formidable as it were).
I'm really happy to have been a part of this season, even if I got eliminated a loooooooooong time ago lol. I want to say thank you to Tyger for reaching out to me and allowing me to step in as a judge. I really had a blast listening to all the music that everyone had to offer. I suppose that my only regret is that I wasn't able to be more active in the thread. Next time that I judge I will definitely rectify that.
As far as our esteemed host is concerned...just wow! I think what you did with the hosting duties this season was really amazing. I really enjoyed all of your write up and the round themes that you came up with. The amount of work that you put into this season is truly appreciated.
To the contestants, the quality of the music was really really outstanding. It really made judging (for me at least) both really enjoyable and challenging. Thank you to everyone for playing at such a high level.
If I ever want to win this thing it looks like I need to step my game way up.

If I ever want to win this thing it looks like I need to step my game way up. You earned the opportunity to Judge and your judging ensured that you kept that spot (cue Arn Anderson "My Spot" talk). You were eliminated early in this and Season VII and, yeah we can't play the game without eliminations, but it still sucks. You chose some great songs and, when asked to judge, you hopped on the opportunity and did so in a timely fashion, despite having some real life difficulties at times. Your musical tastes helped to give balance to the judging pool and you were helpful when I had a few questions and needed someone to bounce ideas off of. You were a big part in how smoothly the Season ran, J. We had contestants that judged and hosted before and they know that things do go on behind the scenes. Judges do more than just Judge, they also provide ideas, point out when scoring mistakes or song repeats have occurred, help edit the Hosts rough ideas, and generally keep the morale up. I loved this Season and, really, only felt stressed a handful of times but the Judges helped with that. BTW, there was a total of 557 songs used this Season (unless my counting is off).

PLEXED. I loooooooove No Doubt (especially Return of Saturn). That happening to you actually stopped me from using them again myself when it was possible. I made it to the finale, so none of the judges could have hated what I used too much, but I always felt like out of all the judges, you were one I was most simpatico with. I hope I'm not reading you wrong, but it was something I felt based on how my songs would do with you. Between No Doubt and your saying you're not a big fan of The Who (I can't stand them and felt a kindred spirit in you haha), I had a good feeling about our judge-contestant relationship, pretty much from the jump .

Congratulations to Anon-GM, Roxie and everybody else that played this season. You guys didn't make it easy in this round or any of the others, and you made my first experience as a judge one to remember. GM, you enjoy that win... but I think I might have to hop out of the judge's booth and fight for that title next time 'round. Congratulations everybody!

Timely and helped to balance things out well. It was funny to see Ssnakebite send you Psycho Circus for the Sing-Off, too and I thought your "Showy" Performers category was a great idea. I made it hard by including it late in the game, when KISS, Bowie, Elvis, and others were unavailable for it but the Contestants rose to the occasion. No F.A.N Idol Season IX: Detroit Rock Orange though? Maybe one day you'll Host .

That's just how this game goes sometimes. Funnily enough when I picked "New" I thought I was going with a safer pick lol. Yeah I was a pretty big No Doubt fan back in the day, I really love everything up until Push and Shove. Admittedly though I do need to go back and give that album a listen. No you read right lol. We share a lot in common musically (especially about The Who ). What can I say you have great taste. Of course Anonymous GM know how much we have in common when it comes to music as well. That made this final really tough for me.

I like Push & Shove and have found some tracks I really like on it, but because it's so new, I don't have the love for it that I have for some of their other stuff. I will one day, I'm sure. One of my favorite ND albums is actually their B-side album, Everything In Time. It's a lot of unused tracks from Return of Saturn, so I guess that makes sense haha.

No Doubt is such a fun band but I can't say I followed them much (or Gwen's solo career) after Return of Saturn.
Hope everyone's well.

DAMN IT TYGER, QUIT BEING HUMBLE.
YOU WERE THE BIGGEST REASON THIS GAME WAS SO INCREDIBLE AND WORKED OUT THE WAY IT DID. WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE SAME WITHOUT YOU.

Absolutely agree with Anon, King, you were an incredible host. Everything from behind the scenes to making sure the thread moved along at a constant pace, you were a great host. Perhaps the best the game has ever seen.

Thanks Orange. I just hope that we don't have to wait for another year (not that we did the last time, as I started right after Cageking's game) to do Season IX. I just tried to do what I could to keep things going and I'm glad it worked out. The best part of the game, as many have stated, is that many new players showed up; from people like wadefan22 and Canctus Fraggle, who used different musical genres, to Roxie and Knalsic, who went deep into the game and showed great versatility, we were lucky to get new blood. My hope is that we'll continue to get more players and that veterans can take up different roles, such as Hosting and Judging, with enough experienced players continuing to play. The more people that we can get to participate, the more Seasons we can do, so we can keep it going.
And not all Seasons should be as long as this one, not at all. There's nothing wrong with brief Seasons, as long as they attain their own flavor and we get excellent music.

Yeah, definitely take some more credit Tyger. For the longest game yet, you kept it running incredibly smooth and I never once felt like it had been abandoned. I've seen stuff that should have been much shorter like Mafia and Survivor games get dragged on forever, but you ensured this game ran at a quick, yet fair, pace. Also, the writeups were always goofy and fun to read.
One thing I don't think I've mentioned in this thread yet is that before this game I honestly didn't really care much about music. I might listen to stuff on Pandora or the radio a tiny bit, but I never actually spent time trying to find new artists or exploring different genres. But this season gave me so many new names to look up and enjoy, both from my picks and others.
Also finally went to my first concert during this game, which was a Grouplove/Ludacris concert held by my college. Had an awesome time and it really got me into Grouplove. Can't wait for the Cataracs/Mac Miller concert they're holding on Saturday.
...but the point was, this game got me a lot more interested and paying more attention to music. So thanks.

The game also exposed me to a ton of new music. I love music but I can get very comfortable with what I like, so I found a lot of artists to listen to. It also helped me to think more about why I like the music I do. I'm glad that you got to go to your first concert. I've only gone to a handful myself but I've seen Nine Inch Nails, Rush twice, A Perfect Circle, Tori Amos twice, Garbage, and it's all been fantastic, just wish I had the chance to see more.

So when does the FAN Idol reunion show start?
