I'm talking about in terms of geography. I've been watching a lot of foreign wrestling in countries outside of the usual suspects for great wrestling (i.e. Japan, Mexico, etc.). One wrestler that really caught my eye was Elliot Sexton. He has a great build, knows how to work a crowd and can cut a damn good promo. The only thing is he's based in Australia. I can't help, but think if he was born in Philadelphia or a hot spot like that he would have been in WWE or TNA years ago. Any other areas that are particularly tough to get noticed in? Within the U.S. I've talked to some west coast wrestlers before and the ones working outside of SoCal have a tough time (heck even the ones in SoCal don't have it much better as Championship Wrestling from Hollywood only has so many spots and PWG doesn't run that often). Also, I haven't looked into it that much, but I was trying to find ANY indie wrestling in Wyoming and couldn't find anything! I know it's not that populated of a state, but if you aspire to be a wrestler in Wyoming and can't move out of state then you're screwed!

Australia and New Zealand wrestlers seem to have a really hard time of getting noticed, Africa is another one too.

Liam Fury is one in particular that stands out for me. Also, he's not in the greatest shape, but there's a guy named Liger (not that Liger!) he looks cool almost in a Giant Tiger kind of mold. As for Africa haven't watched much from there, but I know South Africa is supposed to have some fairly good wrestling. |

Does South Korea have ANY professional wrestling? I really haven't heard of anything out of that neck of the woods which is kind of weird when you consider its proximity to Japan and the fact that Korea is where Rikidozan came from.

Yeah, I've heard of Liger, even seen a match of his in crappy quality. He seems like a guy that could excel if he was in the US, aside from his choice of ring name.
Supposedly South Korea has a booming wrestling scene. But pretty much any and all information about it is like trying to find the City of Gold.

I talked to this wrestler named Juggernaut years ago who was based in Canada, but wrestled in Japan and South Korea. IIRC he basically said that he would have had no idea there was even wrestling in South Korea if not for his work in Japan. |

It's becoming easier for Australian talent to be seen with PWA Australia (Located in Sydney) having links to SHIMMER whilst Zero 1 Australia obviously has links to Zero 1 Japan.
The fantastic All Action Wrestling in Perth has links with Orlando Jordan also who would have a ton of contacts. The problem is we're just not very good and not many wrestlers stand out. That's why 200 people is considered a good crowd over here.
As for the original question. I'd say China. They have New Beijing Pro Wrestling but the cards are filled with DDT Japan guys and they only run a couple times a year.
As for South Korea, I believe there is a promotion there affiliated with an NWA Texas promotion but they ran 3 shows in 2008-2009 and never ran again so I think it's safe to say they are defunct.

US-wise, I imagine coming from a prominent chunk of the Great Plains states (e.g., North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska) has to make it very hard if you don't want to leave your family far behind.

I imagine Japan would be a hard place to get noticed because there's so many awesome wrestlers you'd have to be something pretty special to stand out in a crowd of Prince Devitt, Lyger, Okada, Nakamura and Karl Andersons.

If you don't live close to Kansas City than Kansas is pretty much impossible to be seen in. I don't even know where you would get trained at. There was an independent promotion that ran a few shows last year called Kansas Championship Wrestling that would hold seminars before their shows but I'm pretty sure they just went under. It's pretty much just Kansas City which has the actually pretty damn good Metro Pro.

I think Calgary is basically dead now. I remember right after Harry Smith got signed I wound up talking to a guy getting his photos developed of what was to be his last Stampede show before going to WWE. I could talk to him about it, since I was the only one who knew what the f*** he was talking about.
Stampede still runs, as far as I know, but very, very rarely.

At one point, Parts Unknown was a hotbed for wrestlers. You don't see too many anymore.

Just by looking at the thread title "Hardest Places for a Great Wrestler To Get Noticed?" my first thought was TNA.
To be correct according to the original post requirements that place would be Nashville, Tennessee.
