I always thought it was just a bizarre sight to see Taker with the Hardcore title belt. The one thing I did like is that he putted the belt on the bike which somewhat fits, but...yeah, what was the reasoning behind this?
Oh, and next to him being WWE, WHC and Tag Team champion, this is the only midcard belt he's ever won.

He never even held the IC belt. Even back in those days, I thought that was a little odd for him to hold the hardcore title.

Can't fault it. I remember loving his match with RVD at Vengeance '01.

I think he won it because he just wanted to beat some ass and doing it under hardcore rules was the easiest option for him.
I liked it, gave some prestige to the belt and Taker did good work with it.

Biker Undertaker, although not as grand as the Deadman, was way more versatile. Being a mid-card champ worked for him. Could you imagine Undertaker vs. Kofi for the IC title today or something? Couldn't happen.

Now that I think about it, he did win it in the year where the title was also won by Kane and Chris Jericho (very briefly on the latter), while The Rock and Kurt Angle lost their opportunities to win it.
2001 was a notable year for that title.

It worked pretty nicely. I also liked Goldust's interest in the title when he had weapons spray-painted gold for his use.

He should have taken a page out of the book of Crash Holly and defended it in a Discovery Zone IMHO.

Would have been odd if he was still doing the deadman gimmick at the time. With Big Evil, I always felt it fit.

Wasn't the story that he held the title for a while because everyone else was too afraid to take advantage of the 24/7 rule? I seem to remember something like that.

I didn't even remember the SOB lucky enough to win the Hardcore title off of him and I find out it was Maven. Maven, who needed Al Snow AND The Rock to help win.

I remember being so pissed when they jobbed RVD to him. The Hardcore Title went right back to being a worthless piece of crap as soon as it went to Undertaker. That's not a knock against BikerTaker, either. I loved that character. I just hated that they killed off the title, essentially. Never again was it competed for in a straight-up athletic showcase. That's what RVD was bringing to that belt.

I always thought the Hardcore Title should be revived as the new high flier belt so the current stars could have similar matches.

Hah I loved it. Biker Taker was great and like someone previously said Biker Taker could compete for all the titles and it made sense while regular Undertaker, it is either World or nothing

It fit his "American Badass" character from the time. If he were still the evil deadman then it would have been much stranger.

Undertaker's stint with the HC title was indeed enjoyable but really it didn't matter much when they put on him because by then both the novelty of the belt and the 24/7 rule was long gone.
