Amidst all the other comments and outrage over Summerslam's ending, this is what I'm wondering. Last RAW, when he was announced as the special ref, he was more over than Cena or Bryan. Maybe they can manage it if he doesn't actually wrestle, but I do worry that they're going to have a problem trying to put any babyface up against him in the ring.

If we use the logic of "he's a bad heel since he gets cheered", if he can't pull that off and he can't pull off being a face without having people mocking him, he's a bad wrestler!
Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure he can pull it off, being a dick is kind of his specialty.

I don't doubt for a second we are going to see Bryan vs Hunter eventually, and I don't know. Hunter changes nothing working wise as a heel (He does the same exact spots and same demeanor), and he's more established as a face then Bryan simply due to longevity. However, if there was anybody who could turn a crowd around within a match, Bryan would have the talent to do it.

Triple H is at that stage where it's hard for him to get heat.
If they bring HBK it could work.

All he has to do is come out at the beginning of each show and ramble on about the exact same thing for 25 minutes.

They should have HHH come out tomorrow on Raw and tell Bryan he's being pushed down the card, so far down he has to start right at the bottom. They should make Bryans position so bleak that the fans can't help but cheer more for him.

Triple H can easily work as a heel. He's a natural heel, as a babyface he doesn't really work too well, it always feels so forced. This heel turn has been long overdue. I can't wait for some of his heel work. If he puts Bryan over in the near future it would be great for Bryan

It'll work. The last time he was a heel unable to get booed, it's because he was squaring off against John Cena. People will tear him a new one going after Bryan. Even if some of the casuals still cheer him, the Bryan fans will be much louder.

I am just trying to figure out why they didn't have him turn heel during Summer of Punk? Seems like this turn is a waste in my opinion.

I refuse to believe HHH is ever not a heel.

Hard to say, sure he has Bryan's heat to play off of but then you have Orton, Vince, and probably Steph in there causing confusion over who the biggest heel is. It will probably work but its too convoluted for my tastes.

Even if some of the casuals still cheer him, the Bryan fans will be much louder. Also though he didn't "work heel" against Cena. He played right to the crowd as the cool heel while mocking Cena's Hoganesque good guy face. Heel Trips has a real problem acting heelish. Good heels make faces look credible and fans want to see them win. Trips makes faces look lucky at best and what good is a weak fluke champion. Even Batista who is credited as Trips big get at putting people over was originally billed as lucky and while also being dumb enough to be fooled by Flair. The rematch was kicked off with Trips saying he lost but he put the fear of the pedigree into Batista. THAT was the catalyst, not the title so much, for the rematch was that Batista was scared and had to prove he wasn't.

It's Triple H, we know it will work. On the unlikely event he does get cheered, they will bring in their fail-safe: Booker T.

He can't be a cool, clever heel or the whole thing will bomb. I love Bryan, and think he's an underrated promo, but unlike Punk in 2011, he can't match barbs with H's. It's stupid to even try.
HHH has to go full soulless corporate. If he retains any of his acerbic wit or bad-assery, the thing will fail hard. But unfortunately, HHH is a real life version of the kid who makes his video game CAW have maxed out attributes and every finisher as holds. I don't know if the guy can lower himself enough to give the fans NOTHING to like or cheer about him.
And Orton has to stop doing cool shit, too. Hell, pull a Jake Roberts in 1992 and refuse to let the fans get to see the RKO in matches. Win with something cheap. Heeling is a lost art.
