I remember reading somewhere Abrams wanted to do a version of the Count of Monte Cristo, so I say this is that, and as a TV series rather than a film

You got a guy in period piece type clothing removing rope bindings after washing up on a beach. That definitely reminds me of Edmond Dantes's escape from prison. |
